WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — Ashley Brooke Cox and Charles “Justin” Whitley exchanged vows in a single-ring ceremony May 17 at 4 p.m. at Access 38, with Bob Anderson officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Alton Paul and Carol Jan Cox of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Helen Tyner Cooper, the late Paul Stickland Cox, the late William Marvin Flora and Nancy Rachael Daughtry of Goldsboro.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and a concentration in marketing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She was a member of Pi Sigma Epsilon.

The groom is the son of David Franklin and Linda Jones Whitley of Williamston and the grandson of the late Herbert Stewart Whitley, Margaret W. Perry, the late Eustice L. Jones and Iola J. Moore of Williamston.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in construction management from East Carolina University. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Orde Fraternity. He is employed as an assistant project manager at Thomas Construction Group.

The bride was escorted by and given in marriage by her father.

She wore a beaded lace trumpet dress with godet inserts at the skirt hem and charmeuse sash.

The bride carried a bouquet of pink tulips.

Ashley Brooks Denton of Wilmington was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Melissa Cox of Goldsboro, sister-in-law of the bride; Susan Whitley of Atlanta, Ga., sister of the groom; and Amy Summers of Raleigh, friend of the bride.

David Whitley was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Jonathan Whitley of Charlotte, brother of the groom, and David Joyner of Nags Head and Rob Nipper of Wilmington, friends of the groom.

Alivia Cox of Goldsboro, niece of the bride, and Lyndon Sowney of New Jersey, cousin of the bride, were flower girls. Brennon Cox of Goldsboro, nephew of the bride, and Cooper Whitley of Charlotte, nephew of the groom, were ringbearers.

JoAnne Sowney of New Jersey directed the wedding.

Special helpers were Stepanie Cox, Alexis Jarman and Blake Jarman of Goldsboro.

A program of wedding music was provided by Shag Daddy Mike Overman.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Balcony in the historic district of Wilmington.

After a wedding trip to Secrets Capri-Mexico, the couple reside in Wilmington.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower at the home of Alton and Jan Cox of Goldsboro hosted by Mahala Kriger and Tracey Braddy; a bridal luncheon at the Royal Tea Room hosted by Nancy Harrell; a dinner at Memorial Baptist Church in Williamston hosted by David and Linda Whitley; and a home and garden shower and pig picking hosted by Fenton and Kathy Cox, Paulette Tart, Janie Cox and Scott and Melissa Cox of Goldsboro.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner May 17 at a private residence on Figure Eight Island.
