ATLANTIC BEACH — Ava Malissa Thompson of Greenville and Dr. George Reeve Silver Jr. exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 26 at 1 p.m. at Fort Macon State Park, with the Rev Bonnie Compton officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Felton and Ava Carol Thompson of Wendell and the granddaughter of Felton and Jean Thompson of Wendell.

She graduated from Clayton High School and East Carolina University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse at Pitt Memorial Hospital’s cardiac intensive care unit in Greenville.

The groom is the son of Dr. George R. Silver and Ann Stackhouse of Goldsboro, the stepson of Charles Kirkland Stackhouse, the grandson of Dr. George and the late Dr. Jane Silver of Goldsboro and the late Carl and Pauline Franklin of Gauley Bridge, W. Va., and the stepgrandson of Pam Silver.

He graduated from Charles B Aycock High School, Campbell University and St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. He is employed as a veterinarian at Wayne Veterinary Hospital in Goldsboro.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a a strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline and a cinched pleated bodice. The waistline was accented with a brooch and the floor-length A-line skirt had a draped ruffle and brush train.

Her headpiece was a finger-tipped-length veil with scattered beading along the edges attached to a silver tiara accented with rhinestones.

The bride carried a family Bible adorned with white miniature orchids and a single pink rose.

Jennifer Pope was her friend’s maid of honor.

Keith Silver was his brother’s best man.

Sarah Katherine Smith, niece of the groom, distributed programs.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Sheraton Ocean Front Hotel in Atlantic Beach.

The couple reside in Goldsboro.

A rehearsal dinner was held April 26 at the Sandbar Restaurant in Beaufort.
