Finley - Tyner
Stacy Jeannette Tyner of Princeton and Joseph Edward Finley Jr. of Princeton exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 26 at 1:30 p.m. at Waynesborough Historic Village, with the Rev. Bill Cotton officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dwight Eugene Tyner Sr. and Tammy Gurley Tyner of Pikeville and the granddaughter of Grace Pearce and the late Luby Monroe Tyner of Goldsboro, Vayria “Bunnie” Fields Whitley of Snow Hill and the late William Edmond Gurley of Pikeville and the stepgranddaughter of the late Joseph Marion Whitley.
She graduated with honors from Charles B. Aycock High School in 1999 and East Carolina University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing sciences and in 2006 with a master’s degree in speech, language and auditory pathology. She is employed as a speech language pathologist at the Brian Center and as a PRN at Britthaven.
The groom is the son of Joseph Edward Finley Sr. and Alice Holz Finley of Moyock and the grandson of the late William Ralph and Helen Harrah Holz of Virginia Beach, Va.
He graduated from Currituck County High School in 1996 and East Carolina University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing sciences and in 2006 with a master’s degree in speech, language and auditory pathology. He is employed as a speech language pathologist with Wayne County Schools.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a a formal gown of ivory satin. The strapless bodice featured an embroidered leaf design and three-dimensional flowers along the waistline. It had two box pleats at the front and three in the back. It had hand beaded buttons on the back of the bodice, skirt and down the cathedral train. She also wore a pearl necklace, a gift from the groom, and pearl earrings, a gift from the groom’s parents.
Her headpiece was a two-tiered ivory veil accented with rhinestones attached to a pearl and rhinestone tiara.
The bride carried a clutch bouquet of pink stargazer lilies, white calla lilies, ivory and yellow roses tied with ivory ribbon.
Montica Cherry of Winston Salem was her friend’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Amber Hinson and Valerie Hinson of Goldsboro, cousins of the bride; Katherine Finley of Moyock, sister of the groom; and Gena Martin of Grandy, Brittany Serrano of Fayetteville and Angela Wilson of High Point, friends of the couple.
Joseph Edward Finley Sr. was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Eugene Tyner of Pikeville, brother of the bride; and Mike Beasley of Chesapeake, Va., Patrick Martin of Grandy, Staff Sgt. Ryan Serrano of High Point, Capt. Steven Wilson of Fayetteville and Shana McReynolds of Moyock, friends of the groom.
Samantha Ross of Winston-Salem, friend of the bride, was flower girl. Dylan Daughtry of Pikeville, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer.
Melva Thompson and Sharlene Register, aunts of the bide, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Destinee Clayton of Pikeville, cousin of the bride.
A program of wedding music was provided by Bill and Betty Perdue, DJs.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner and dance at Waynesborough Historic Village. Sophronia Daughtry, aunt of the bride, and Walda Talton, cousin of the bride, served the three-tiered wedding cake. Bags of heart-shaped rice were distributed by Joshua Hinson and Allison Hinson, cousins of the bride.
After a wedding trip to Key West, Fla., the couple reside in Princeton.
Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ brunch April 25 at the English Tea Room hosted by the bride; a bachelor dinner April 24 hosted by friends of the groom; a a shower April 21 hosted by co-workers of the bride; a bachelorette party April 19 in Cary hosted by Montica Cherry, friend of the bride; a gift presentation party April 18 hosted by the staff of the Brian Center; a a lingerie shower April 5 at the home of Suzanne Tyner hosted by Ms. Tyner and Sophronia Daughtry, aunts of the bride, and April Taylor, cousin of the bride; a shower March 14 at Logans Steakhouse hosted by co-workers of the groom; and a a shower March 8 at Pikes Cross Roads Church hosted by Melva Thompson and Sharlene Register, aunts of the bride.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner April 25 at Texas Steakhouse.
