OCEAN ISLE — Rebecca Saunders of Greenville and David Wesley Shivar of Greenville exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 23 at 4 p.m. at Ocean Isle Beach Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Ward officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. Brady Saunders of Pinetops and Joan Durham of Rocky Mount and the stepdaughter of Terry Durham and Patricia Saunders.

She is employed as a mortage loan officer at RBC Centura.

The groom is the son of D.W. and Edith Shivar of Seven Springs.

He is employed as a senior land consultant at North Carolina Land Partners.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

Bethany Lewis was matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Mandy Saunders and Elizabeth McElveen.

D.W. Shivar, father of the groom, and Cory Shivar, brother of the groom, were best men.

Ushers were Dr. Adam Saunders and Brady Lewis.

Glynda Bradshaw directed the wedding.

A program of wedding music was provided by Maura Kropke, violinist.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Isles Restaurant. A memory slide show of the couple was shown.

After a wedding trip to Ocean Isle, the couple reside in Greenville.

Events before the wedding included a chicken and pig picking shower Sept. 8; a miscellaneous wedding shower Aug. 12 hosted by ladies of Daly’s Church and friends of the groom; and a barbecue wedding shower June 2 hosted by the groom’s family.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Sept. 22 at Twin Lakes Seafood in Ocean Isle.
