FAISON — LaShanda Denise Raynor of Greensboro and Christopher Chad Smith exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 11 at 2:30 p.m. at Poplar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Willie C. Alford officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Charles D. Raynor and Dorothy S. Raynor of Dudley and the granddaughter of the late Everette and Mary C.J. Raynor of Mount Olive and the late Frank and Johnnie B. Simmons of Faison.

She is a 1999 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She is employed as a kindergarten teacher at Guilford County Schools.

The groom is the son of Linda Kay Smith and the late Joe Bill Smith of Greensboro and the grandson of the late Bud and Swannie Price of Snow Camp.

He is a graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University with a bachelor’s degree in human environment and family sciences. He is employed as a North Carolina account development manager at PSC MedSupply LLC.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a a strapless French taffeta A-line gown adorned with crystal and silver beading on the bodice. The dropped waistline featured a band of silver bead work. The skirt was detailed with crystal pickups followed by a chapel-length train.

Her headpiece was a tiara embellished with crystals and beads attached to a white two-tiered veil lined with crystals.

The bride carried a clutch bouquet of white roses.

Pamela Williams of Faison was her cousin’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Nadiyah Ali of Baltimore, Md., Sharmen Few of Greensboro, Tamika Hubbard of Converse, Texas, and Demia Stewart of Greensboro, friends of the couple, and Tiffany Smith of Greensboro, sister of the groom.

Ronnie Miller Jr. of Greensboro was his friend’s best man.

Groomsmen were Jamie Baldwin and Jerry Baldwin of Burlington and Alton Scales of Browns Summit, cousins of the groom; Kenny Sharpe of Greensboro, friend of the couple; and Lyle Smith of Charlotte, nephew of the groom.

Ushers were Theodore Bullock, Daniel Faison, Kendric Faison and Blake King of Faison, cousins of the bride.

Asia Faison, god-daughter of the bride, was flower girl. Savionne Watt, son of the groom, was ringbearer.

Monica Glover directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Priscilla Faison. Monique Rhames and Yolanda Troublefield distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Carrie Simmons, pianist.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

After a wedding trip to Aruba, the couple reside in McLeansville.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower Aug. 4 hosted by Demia Stewart; a bridal shower May 28 hosted by co-workers of the bride; a bridal shower May 21 hosted by the bride’s kindergarten students; and a bridal shower April 28 hosted by Gayle Hardy and family.

A rehearsal dinner was held at the home of the bride. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
