MOREHEAD CITY — Amy Brooks Hope and Dexter James Lawhorn exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 11 at 4 p.m. in Atlantic Beach, with the Rev. Beth Curtis officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Danny Franklin and Trudy Davis Hope of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Joyce Martin, the late Franklin Hope, Arlene G. Davis and the late Lloyd Davis of Goldsboro.

She is a 2003 graduate of Rosewood High School and attends Wayne Community College for a nursing degree.

The groom is the son of Ralph Edward Lawhorn Jr. and Linda Kay Lawhorn of Dudley and the grandson of the late Ralph Edward Lawhorn Sr. and Louise Lipscomb Lawhorn of Dudley and James Cleveland and Grace Capps Jones of Goldsboro.

He is a 2003 graduate of Spring Creek High School and a 2007 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate degree in machining. He is employed as a machinist at FRCEast at Cherry Point in Havelock.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a white strapless satin sheath gown with a tulle overlay and beaded lace appliqué with a cage train.

Her headpiece was a jeweled and beaded tiara.

The bride carried a bouquet of hand-tied stargazer lilies, pink and yellow roses with green hydrangeas.

Ashley McCabe of Goldsboro was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Melissa Howell of Goldsboro and Leslie Lawhorn of Pikeville.

Timothy J. Bass of Goldsboro, cousin of the groom, was best man.

Groomsmen were Lloyd Allen Hope of Goldsboro, brother of the bride, and Edward Lawhorn III of Pikeville, brother of the groom.

Alexis Mercer of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, was flower girl. Logan Lawhorn of Pikeville, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.

Ellie Woods of Morehead City directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Summer Jones of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride.

A program of wedding music was provided by John Drake of Morehead City.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Sandcastles in Atlantic Beach. Davis Jones of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, distributed wedding favors.

After a wedding trip to Atlantic Beach, the couple reside in Dudley.

Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon Aug. 11 at Channel Marker in Morehead City hosted by Arlene Davis, grandmother of the bride; a bridal shower July 29 at the home of Jenny Lou Bass hosted by the groom’s family; a couple’s shower July 21 at Ocean Club of Salter Path hosted by John and Donna Mercer and Mike and April Debnam; a decor shower July 19 at the home of Tracy Jones hosted by Tracy Jones, aunt of the bride; a miscellaneous shower July 15 at Pine Forest United Methodist Church hosted by ladies of the church; and a kitchen shower July 14 at the home of Leslie Lawhorn hosted by the bridesmaids.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Aug. 10 at Kabuto Japanese Steakhouse in Morehead City.
