DUDLEY — Joyce Monica Best and Isaac Carlton Artis of Fremont exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 7 at 3 p.m. at Holly Green Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jesse H. Garrett officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Alice Best and the late Connie K. Best Sr. of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Raymond Best Sr., Lissie Best and the late Rev. Earl and Pauline Daniels of Goldsboro.

The groom is the son of the late A.J. and Savannah Artis of Goldsboro.

The bride was escorted by her uncle, Otis Best, and given in marriage by her mother.

She wore a white spaghetti strap, three-foot long train gown with white pearls, diamonds and laced appliqués. It had a matching waist-length jacket.

Her headpiece was a diamond crown. The veil was designed with matching pearls and appliqués.

Doris Miller of Baltimore, Md., was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Gloria Richardson and Toya Larry, cousins of the bride.

David Artis of Baltimore was his brother’s best man.

Groomsmen were the Rev. Carl Cox and Courtney Larry.

Ushers were Gerald Armstrong and Domanick Jones.

Emani Larry was flower girl. Annessa Kane was ringbearer.

Tonya Carr of Fredrick-sburg, Md., directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Angela Hatch.

Special helpers were Toyna Artis, Crystal Artis, Adrianne Artis and the Rev. Connie Best Jr.

A program of wedding music was provided by Kathy Artis and Brittni Reid, vocalists, and Doris Uzzell.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Norwayne alumni building in Fremont.

After a wedding trip to the mountains, the couple reside in Fremont.

Events held before the wedding included a facial party hosted by Gloria Artis and a bridal shower hosted by Carolyn Artis and Tonya Carr.

A rehearsal dinner was held Holly Green Missionary Baptist Church.
