MOREHEAD CITY — Courtney Diane Kirk of Charlotte and Matthew Ryan Williams of Charlotte exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 4 at 3 p.m. at St. Egbert Catholic Church, with the Rev. Doug Smiley officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. Walter Charles Kirk Jr. and Claudia Kirk of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Grace Kirk of Columbia, S.C., the late Walter Charles Kirk and Zetta Humphries of Hudson, Ohio, and the late Claude Franklin Humphries.

She is a 1999 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2003 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene. She is a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She is employed as a registered dental hygienist with Dr. Erron S. Brady Family and Cosmetic Dentistry.

The groom is the son of Dan R. and Jan Williams of Salisbury and the grandson of the late Claude Loray and Velma Williams of Faith, Frankie Johnson of Canton and the late Charles Smathers Johnson.

He is a 1996 graduate of Salisbury High School and a 2000 graduate of Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications and advertising. He is employed as a real estate appraiser and owner of Matthew R. Williams Appraisals.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a strapless ivory silk zibeline mermaid-style gown with ruffle detail across the front, a V yellow ruffle down the back and a peek-a-boo yellow tulle opening in the skirt back.

Her headpiece was a matching fingertip veil with a pencil edge.

The bride carried white roses and white hydrangeas.

Kelly McCrossin of Hohokus, N.J., was her sister’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Rebecca Beach of Carlisle, Pa., Claire Broadaway, Ann Ives, Katherine Stafford and Jennifer Everett of Charlotte, Kristy Byrd of Atlanta, Ga., Alison Chappell of Washington D.C., and Corbin Neuner of Richmond, Va., sister of the groom.

Dan R. Williams was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Thaddeus Barnes and Kevin Foutz of Charlotte, David Goodman of Raleigh, Erik Lipscomb and Bradford Penley of Salisbury, Hunter McCrossin of Hohokus and John Neuner of Richmond, Va.

William John Neuner, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.

Lynn Brugnolotti directed the wedding. Lea Gessaman of Washington D.C. and Kristen McArthur of Cary distributed programs and were readers.

A program of wedding music was provided by Teresa Jones, pianist.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception dinner and dance at Coral Bay Club of Atlantic Beach.

After a wedding cruise to the Mediterranean, the couple reside in Charlotte.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal luncheon Aug. 3 in Beaufort hosted by the bride’s mother; a wedding shower July 14 in Charlotte hosted by the bridesmaids; a bachelor golf weekend June 8 in Hilton Head, S.C.; a a bachelorette weekend May 18 in Manhattan hosted by Kelly McCrossin; a barbecue and Final Four basketball engagement party March 31 in Salisbury hosted by the groom’s parents; and a miscellaneous party Feb. 17 in Charlotte.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Shepard’s Point of Morehead City.
