Amy Nichole Carter and Timothy James Capps of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 30 at 2 p.m. at Providence United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jesse Jackson officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Douglas Luther and Brenda Star Carter of Dudley and the granddaughter of Virset Carter, the late Luther Carter, Victor “Bill” Gray and the late Callie Jane Pipkin of Goldsboro.

She graduated from Southern Wayne High School. She is employed as an accounting team leader at Park Design.

The groom is the son of Ruben and Louise Chase of Dudley and the grandson of the late William “Bill” and Leona Capps and the late Reese and Eloise Mozingo of Goldsboro.

He graduated from Southern Wayne High School. He is employed at TALoving.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a strapless satin-sweetheart bodice with a full A-line skirt lace with hand-beaded appliqués and pearls. It had a jacket cathedral train with a split-front with hand beaded appliqués and pearls. She also wore a pearl necklace and earrings given to her by her mother.

Her headpiece was a traditional crown with jewels and pearls attached to a two-tiered fingertip-length veil with beads and pearls.

The bride carried a bouquet of calla lilies and day lilies accented with various spring flowers tied in lavender ribbon with love knots.

Michelle King of Waldorf, Md., was matron of honor.

Jerry Wayne Hamilton was best man.

Ushers were Richard Carter, brother of the bride, and Kevin Capps, brother of the groom.

Brookelyn Page King was flower girl. Austin Chase was ringbearer.

Darlene Stafford directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Kira Pipkin. Jenny Capps distributed programs.

Special helpers were Joy Ingram and Bradley and Brittani King.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Holiday Inn Express. Carolyn White of Charlotte, aunt of the bride, served the wedding cake. Nikki Burroughs and Shari Thomas, friend and co-worker of the bride, served refreshments.

After a wedding trip to the Outer Banks, the couple reside in Grantham.

Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower June 16 at the home of Lyndsay Hanson; a dinner party June 7 at the Steak Barn hosted by the accounting department; a lingerie shower June 1 at the home of the bride’s aunt hosted by Darlene Stafford and Michelle King; a lawn and garden pig picking May 12 at the home of the groom’s aunt hosted by Frances Mozingo and Theresa Summerlin; a miscellaneous shower May 10 at Park Design hosted by the accounting department; and a miscellaneous shower April 21 at the home of the bride’s aunt hosted by Nancy Dawson and Carolyn White.

A rehearsal dinner was held at the church.
