Younts-Watkins
Kimberly Anne Watkins and David Younts exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 14 at 3 p.m. at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, with the Rev. Frederick William Clarke officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Brantley Elmo and Sharon Hill Watkins of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Maylon Elmo and Ella Upchurch Watkins, Willie Mae Hill and the late Henry Thomas Hill of Goldsboro.
She is a 2003 graduate of Rosewood High School and a 2007 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The groom is the son of David Alan and Linda Pappalau Younts of Goldsboro and the grandson of David and Donna Jeanne Younts of Keesville, N.Y., and George William and Sally Ann Pappalau of East Berne, N.Y.
He is a 1999 graduate of Rosewood High School and a 2006 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science. He is employed as a teacher with Wayne County Public Schools.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a formal white silk and satin strapless gown with a pleated sweetheart neckline embellished with silver medallions of embroidery. Cascading embroidery overlaid the empire waist and met the princess line skirt that flowed into a chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was a tiara embellished with rhinestones and crystals and a white fingertip-length veil with hand-beaded trim.
The bride carried a clutch bouquet of yellow and fuchsia Gerber daisies, yellow mini calla lilies and flesta roses hand-tied with sheer white ribbon and crystal pins.
Carla Elizabeth Pierce of Goldsboro was her friend’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Stephanie Marie Brogden and Jennifer Lauren Marlow of Goldsboro and Miranda Bruno Edwards, Jennifer Carol Lawson and Hayley Michelle Taylor of Greenville, friends of the bride.
David Alan Younts was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Arthur Larentz Carlson and Philip Curtis Edwards of Greenville and Joshua Gordon Smith and Troy Issac Smith of Goldsboro, friends of the groom, and Jason Michael Younts of Greenville, brother of the groom.
Matthew Alan Younts of Goldsboro, brother of the groom, was the usher.
Ally Cassidy Foster of Sanford, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Jonathan Alan Yeager of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, was ringbearer.
Cheryl Griffin of Goldsboro directed the wedding, assisted by Linda McCoy. Presiding at the register was Valarie Jean Watkins of Wilmington, cousin of the bride. Hannah Mae Walker of Princeton, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Sheila Bonds of Goldsboro, vocalist, and Elaine Getchell of Goldsboro, organist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Lane Tree Golf Club. Brian “Skip” Watkins and Valarie Watkins of Wilmington, uncle and aunt of the bride, greeted guests. Ladies of the Christian Women’s Fellowship served the wedding cake and poured punch. Barbara Hardee of Princeton, aunt of the bride, said good-byes.
After a wedding trip to Las Vegas, Nev., the couple reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon July 7 at the home of Edmond and Ann Brown, uncle and aunt of the bride, at which time the bride chose to present gifts to her attendants; a a lingerie shower and bachelorette party July 7 in Raleigh hosted by the bridesmaids; a bachelor party June 24 in Greenville hosted by the groomsmen; a wedding shower June 10 at First Christian Church hosted by Barbara Hardee, Nancy Hardee, Debbie Hardee and Tammy Foster, aunts and cousin of the bride; and a wedding shower May 10 at First Christian Church hosted by the Christian Women’s Fellowship.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner July 13 at The Royal Tea Room.
