CLAYTON — Shelly Amber Woodard and Andrew Lane Howard exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 16 at 5 p.m. at The Wagnor with Pastor John Howard, cousin of the groom, officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Terry and Tammy Woodard of Princeton and the granddaughter of Rayonell Rose, the late Thomas Hinton, James Woodard and the late Teresa Woodard of Princeton.

The is a 2005 summa cum laude graduate of East Carolina University. She is employed with the Pitt County School system as an elementary school teacher.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Howard of Washington and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lane of Washington and the late Rev. and Mrs. Odell Howard of Greenville.

He is a 2006 graduate of East Carolina University. He is employed with Tom Howard and Associates of Washington.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a white matte satin strapless A-line gown. The bodice was embellished with appliqués of beaded champagne lace. The satin was draped on the left side and had a repetition of beaded appliqués that followed the stitching down the side to the hemline. Champagne lace adorned the back of the dress and formed a V down the center where it met the chapel-length train.

Her headpiece was a two-tiered fingertip-length veil of Swarovski crystal beads and petite pearls attached to a silver tiara of rhinestones.

The bride carried a bouquet of hand-tied calla lilies with miniature pink roses.

Nikki Capps of Selma was her cousin’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Casey Jones of Wilson Mills, Meredith Hillgrove and Cindy Parrish of Greenville and Jennifer Hinton of Greenville, cousin of the bride.

Thomas Howard was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Joel Howard of Greenville, brother of the groom; Brian Jones of Greenville; and Brandon Woodard and Matthew Woodard of Greensboro, brothers of the bride.

Ushers were Tyler Johnson of Washington and Justin Smith of Poughkee, N.Y.

Joanna Lowery of Toccoa, Ga., cousin of the groom, was flower girl. Grant Capps, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer.

Kimberly Hinton of Princeton, aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Debbie Littleton of Selma and Darlene Moore of Lugoff, S.C., aunts of the bride. Cameron Moore, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Wagnor. Christy Malham of Princeton served the multi-layered wedding cake. Mackenzie Malham, cousin of the bride, distributed going-away sparklers.

After a wedding trip to Saint Lucia, the couple reside in Washington.

Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon at the Tea Room hosted by aunts of the bride; a miscellaneous shower hosted by co-workers of the bride; a scrapbooking recipe card shower hosted by Rayonell Rose, grandmother of the bride, and Kimberly Hinton, aunt of the bride; a lingerie shower hosted by the matron of honor and friends; a bridal shower hosted by Christy Malham, cousin of the bride, and Debbie Littleton, aunt of the bride; and an oyster roast and pig picking engagement party hosted by the groom’s parents.

The groom’s parents held a tropical-themed rehearsal dinner at The Wagnor.
