PIKEVILLE — Shanna Ladell Newman of Goldsboro and Jason Eugene Corbett exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 28 at 4 p.m. at Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist, with Pastor Don Sauls and Pastor Horace Johnson officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Michael and Kathy Pate Newman of Fremont and the granddaughter of Henry and Ethel Showalter Newman of Denver, Pa., and Ladell Barnes and the late Leland Pate of Fremont.

She is employed as a retail wireless consultant at US Cellular.

The groom is the son of Tyron Corbett and Ellen Parnell Corbett of Goldsboro and the grandson of Donald and Betty Jean Blow Corbett. Maxine Phillips and the late Clifton Parnell of Goldsboro.

He is employed as vice president at Corbett Tile Co.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a white satin strapless A-line dress with a cuff neckline and pleated Capri-colored sash at the waist, a fingertip-length two-tiered veil with a white corded edge.

She carried a bouquet of white and blue Gerber daisies, white daisies and grandmother’s Bible.

Tabitha Bass was her friend’s matron of honor, while Keri McCahan, friend of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Lindsey Newman and Allison Newman, sisters of the bride; Lisa Gardner, cousin of the bride; Lashonda Quinn, friend of the bride; Mary Ellen Corbett, sister of the groom; Carey Ginn, cousin of the groom; and Nikki de Varona, friend of the couple.

Tyron Corbett was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Miguel de Varona and Jose de Varona, friends of the couple; Stephen Terry, friend of the groom; Kris Pate, cousin of the bride; Matthew Rast and Daniel Kirby, cousins of the groom; and Mike Gardner and Rodney Pipkin, friends of the groom.

Ushers were Lee Brock, cousin of the groom; Alan Hinnant, friend of the couple; and Jonathan Gardner, cousin of the bride.

Nancy Norris, friend of the couple, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Ashley Philips, friend of the bride. Karen Peele, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Renee Futrelle, aunt of the groom, pianist, and Kimble Pate, Keri McCahan and Tyron Corbett, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Steak Barn. Susan Brock, aunt of the groom, and Dana Kirby, cousin of the groom, served the wedding cake. Karen Peele greeted guests and poured punch. Sonny and Betty Brown, uncle and aunt of the bride, said good-byes.

After a wedding trip to Kings Dominion and Williamsburg, Va., the couple reside in Fremont.

Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon April 22 hosted by the bride’s parents; a bachelor party April 21 hosted by Tyron Corbett and friends of the groom; a bachelorette and lingerie party April 14 hosted by Keri McCahan, Tabitha Bass and Ashley Philips; a luncheon March 24 hosted by aunts of the bride; a miscellaneous shower March 18 hosted by aunts of the groom; and a pampered bride shower Feb. 18 hosted by Lisa Gardner.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Pikeville Church.
