CHAPEL HILL — Cameron Gray Hughes and Michael Stephen Chenier exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 2 at 6 p.m. at University Presbyterian Church, with Robert E. Dunham officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Ronald and Bonnie Hughes of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Vernon and Dorothy Hughes of Fayetteville and Edwin and JoAnn Thompson and the late B.G. Darden of Goldsboro.

She is a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Kenan-Flagler Business School with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.

The groom is the son of Mark and Barbara Chenier of Goldsboro and the grandson of Edwin and Evelyn Ely and the late Eugene Chenier of Ludlow, Mass., and Gene and Bette Binning of Oklahoma City, Okla.

He is a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in chemistry. He attends the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her family.

She wore an ivory silk taffeta strapless mermaid gown with a ruched bodice and bubble hem.

Her headpiece was a cathedral-length ivory tulle veil.

The bride carried a bouquet of white peonies, white miniature calla lilies and lilac.

Charles Blake Hughes was man of honor, while Hadley Anne Dempsey and Megan Noel Johnson were maids of honor.

Bridesmaids were Justine Renee Barnes, Erin Leigh Dempsey, Lauren Marie Howell, Megan Ames Hutchens and Heather North McGraw.

Mason Patrick Chenier was best man.

Groomsmen were Ross Anthony Cidlowski, Andrew David Hathaway, Joseph Edward McGraw, Robert James McMillen, Sebastien Lewis Moity and Hal Brantley Wansley III.

Presiding at the register was Lauren Richards. Chase Darden, Zachary Darden and Gray Darden distributed programs.

Bill and Bonnie Hunter and John and Gail Richards greeted guests.

A program of wedding music was provided by Christopher Lawing, vocalist; Thomas Brown, organist; and Paul Neebe, trumpeter.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Carolina Inn’s Old Well Ballroom.

After a wedding trip to Anguilla, British West Indies, the couple reside in Chapel Hill.

Events held before the wedding included a wedding day brunch at Fearrington Village hosted by Bonnie Hunter and Diana Pike; a wedding party cookout hosted by John and Gail Richards; a shower at the home of Pat Keim hosted by Linda Meyer, Linda Greenwood, Linda Perdue, Sue Woodyard, Clare Foster and Marsha Tucker; a bridesmaids’ beach weekend in Hatteras hosted by Erin Dempsey and Hadley Dempsey; a stock-the-bar shower hosted by Justine Barnes, Whitney Brown, Lauren Howell and Mary Ann Howell; and an engagement party at the home of the bride’s parents hosted by the bride’s parents.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Azure Grille in Chapel Hill.
