PIKEVILLE — MeLinda Jean Bartlett and Carl Gene Edwards Jr. of Clayton exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony March 24 at 3 p.m. at Antioch Original Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Otis Hamm and the Rev. Dale Belvin officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Linda Weaver Bartlett and the late C.B. Bartlett of Pikeville and the granddaughter of the late B. Lloyd and Hokie Marie Gray Bartlett of Pikeville and the late Joe L. Sr. and Isabel Moore Weaver of Grantham.

She graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School and East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and master’s degree in business administration. She is employed as a supervisor with CISS operations at the trauma center at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

The groom is the son of Linda Faye Edwards and the late Carl Gene Edwards Sr. of Kenly and the grandson of the late Crayton and Bessie Viola Edwards of Dillon, S.C., and Hazel H. Jacobs and the late Johnny R. Jacobs of Baldwin, Fla.

He graduated from North Johnston High School and Campbell University with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. He is employed as a pharmacy manager at CVS.

The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her mother.

She wore a sleeveless formal gown of diamond white satin with a drop waistline. The V-neck bodice was embellished with sequins and Swarovski crystals. The A-line skirt flowed into a semi-cathedral train accented with sequins and crystals.

Her headpiece was a tiara accented with crystals with a semi-cathedral veil and an elbow-length veil accented with crystals and silver embellishments.

The bride carried a clutch bouquet of ivory Victoria roses and hot pink Gerber daisies adorned with jewel accents.

Michelle B. Hamm was her sister’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Stephanie L. Tyndall, friend of the bride, and Lauren E. Sutton, niece of the groom.

Randy G. Sutton was his brother-in-law’s best man.

Groomsmen were B. Kelly Hamm, brother-in-law of the bride, and C. Bryan Kirk, brother-in-law of the groom.

Honorary bridesmaids were Elizabeth E. Sutton and Linda E. Kirk, sisters of the groom; Jody B. Carter, friend of the couple; and Mitzi L. Witherington, friend of the bride.

Logan E. Sutton, niece of the groom, was flower girl.

Barbara Lancaster directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Mark A. Bilello.

A program of wedding music was provided by Camille L. Frederick, pianist, and James W. Grant IV, Michelle B. Hamm, Amy D. Harrison, Robin L. Potter and Gail B. Lancaster, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Sharon W. Carter and Peggy W. Kennedy, cousins of the bride, served the wedding cake. Scarlet L. Medlin and Ann Davis Weaver, cousins of the bride, poured punch. Kenny and Cathy Harrison greeted guests. Ainsley F. Harrison, Emilee F. Swinson and Chandler L. Harris distributed wedding favors.

After a wedding trip to the Mediterranean, the couple reside in Clayton.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal afternoon tea March 18 at Benjamin B. West Country Inn and Carriage House hosted by Linda Bartlett and Michelle B. Hamm; a bachelor weekend March 16 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a bachelorette weekend and lingerie shower March 9 in Myrtle Beach; a miscellaneous shower March 3 hosted by Kenly Church ladies and the Edwards family; a miscellaneous shower Feb. 22 hosted by the staff of the trauma center at Pitt Hospital; a miscellaneous shower Feb. 19 hosted by Antioch Church ladies auxiliary and the Bartlett family; a kitchen shower and dinner Jan. 27 hosted by Kelly and Michelle Hamm, Linda Bartlett, Felix and Gloria Gurley and Chad and Scarlet Medlin at the Medlin home; and a Christmas brunch and shower Dec. 9 hosted by His In Song praise team at the home of Michelle B. Hamm.

The groom’s family held a rehearsal dinner at Antioch Church fellowship hall. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
