ROME, Ga. — Catherine Collins Davidson and Nicholas Norwood Bland exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Morris Chapel at Darlington School, with the Rev. Scott Alan Jackson and Browning Montgomery Wood officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Gene Grant Davidson of Rome, Ga., and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Bauhofer of Goldsboro and the late Mr. and Mrs. G. Raymond Davidson.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. James Laval Bland Sr. of Aiken, S.C., and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Edward Cato of Aiken and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Bland.

He attends Tufts University for a doctor of dental surgery degree.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a strapless formal ivory peal gown with a pearl and crystal embellished bustier top with a full ivory silk shantung pickup skirt and a chapel train. She wore a pearl necklace and earrings that had been given to her at birth by her parents.

Her headpiece was a cathedral-length veil bordered with peau d’ange lace, which was worn by her mother.

The bride carried a lace handkerchief given to her by her paternal grandmother and a clutch bouquet of green and white hydrangeas, white bouvardia and white hyacinths collared with dusty miller and lamb’s ear accented with green wheat.

Virginia Lauren Davidson of Rome was her twin sister’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Christina Blanchard Brewer of Atlanta, Ga., Margaret Beth Erwin, Melissa Faith Sumner and Courtney Rae Williams of Rome, Allison Elizabeth Johnson of Rockhill, S.C., and Mary Charlotte Shearer of Milledgeville, Ga., and Emily Elise Maddox of Atlanta, cousins of the bride.

Patrick Richard Band was his twin brother’s best man.

Groomsmen were Jared Thomas Churchill Blakey of Marietta, Ga., Blake Anthony Cole and Brandon Doogan Cole of Duluth, Ga., Jonathan Robert Ables and John Simon Cochran of Gainesville, Ga., Scott Douglas Berl of Moultrie, Ga., Hans Bauhofer Davidson of Tallahassee, Fla., brother of the bride, and Jeremy Jewell Maddox of Pendergrass, Ga.

Alice Allgood Cooper Griffin of Rome was the honorary bridesmaid. Clinton Reid Moore of Aiken was the honorary groomsman.

Junior bridesmaids were Anneliese Grace Hibbs and Garlyn Catherine Hibbs of Sparta, N.J., cousins of the bride.

Elizabeth Aileen Hortman, Elizabeth Summer Jones, Mary Elizabeth Montgomery and Sara Louise Pate of Rome distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Neil Allen Sanders, organist; Douglas Wayne Walker, trumpeter; Browning Montgomery Wood, guitarist; and Mr. and Mrs. Gary David Hibbs, uncle and aunt of the bride, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Coosa Country Club. Dr. and Mrs. Alan Lee Bowen of Rome greeted guests. A four-tiered wedding cake with sugar polka dots and ivory sugar roses was served.

After a wedding trip St. Kitts, French West Indies, the couple reside in Boston, Mass.

Events held before the wedding included a brunch Feb. 18 at the Davidson home hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lobik, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Williams and Janice Winterboer; a party Feb. 17 hosted by Lee Young and Susan Robinson; a bachelor party in Atlanta hosted by the groomsmen; a bridesmaids’ luncheon at Vinings Inn in Atlanta hosted by Susan Battle, Anneliese Maddox, Jenne’ Hibbs, Donna Davidson and Ellen Burns; a luncheon and miscellaneous shower at Coosa Country Club; a bachelorette party in Atlanta hosted by the bridesmaids; a Christmas shower in Aiken hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Preston Price, Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Price, Whitney Price and Ryan Price; a lingerie shower in Athens, Ga. hosted by Meggie Erwin, Courtney Williams, MiMi Sumner and Alice Griffin; and an engagement party at the Stegall home in Rome.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Feb. 16 at Coosa Country Club.
