Mrs. Williams

Dawn Elizabeth Gruebel and Shayne Kevin Williams exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. at Eureka Christian Church, with the Rev. Frank Purvis officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas William Gruebel of Mount Olive and the granddaughter of Clara Holmes and the late James “Sonny” Holmes of Mount Olive and the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis Gruebel of Williston Park, N.Y.

She is a1992 graduate of North Duplin High School and Wayne Community College with an associate degree in dental hygiene. She is employed as a registered dental hygienist with Dr. Joseph Ray Mooring Jr.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Linwood Williams of Mount Olive and the grandson of Naomi Grantham and the late Carl Grantham of Mount Olive and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Williams of Goldsboro.

He graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1993. He is employed as a machine operator with Hilex Poly.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

Laura Gruebel of Winston-Salem served as her sister-in-law’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Heather Henry of North Ridgeville, Ohio, friend of the bride; Heather Hudson of Mount Olive, cousin of the bride; and Carla Williams of Wilson, sister of the groom.

Linwood Williams was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Dr. Tad Gruebel of Winston-Salem, brother of the bride; Steve Holmes of Mount Olive, uncle of the bride; and Chris Williams of Fuquay-Varina, brother of the groom.

Rachel Gruebel of Winston-Salem, niece of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid. Kevin Williams of Mount Olive, son of the groom, was the junior groomsman.

Lillian Gruebel of Winston-Salem, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Christian Gruebel of Winston-Salem, nephew of the bride, and Hayden Williams of Fuquay-Varina, nephew of the groom, were ringbearers.

Kaye Harrell of Mount Olive, friend of the couple, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Crystal Whitfield of Mount Olive, cousin of the groom. Heather Toler of Mount Olive, cousin of the groom, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Joyce Strickand of Mount Olive, pianist; Marty Gurganus of Pikeville, vocalist; and Eddy Richards of Mount Olive, sound technician.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at the Big Barn Theater. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Morris, uncle and aunt of the bride, greeted guests. Joyce Holmes, aunt of the bride, and Corine Holmes, cousin of the bride, cut the wedding cake. Barbara Wolfe and Cathy Heed, aunts of the bride, poured punch.

After a wedding trip to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tenn., the couple reside in Mount Olive.

Events held before the wedding included a dinner Oct. 24 at Sumos of Clinton hosted by co-workers of the bride; a miscellaneous shower Oct. 8 at the home of Heather Toler hosted by the groom’s family; and a miscellaneous shower Oct. 1 at the home of Joyce Holmes hosted by the bride’s family.

The groom’s family held a rehearsal dinner in the church fellowship hall. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
