HAVELOCK — Kelly Renee Overman and Stephen Webster Bryan of Greenville exchanged vows in a double-ring riverfront ceremony Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. on the Neuse River, with the Rev. Gary Bryan officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Steven Wayne and Muriel Grubbs Overman of Havelock and the granddaughter of Beatrice Overman and the late Aaron Overman of Smithfield and Lillian Grubbs and the late Rev. Herman A. Grubbs Sr. of Mount Olive.

She is a 2000 graduate of Rosewood High School and a graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in child development and family relations and a concentration in elementary education.

The groom is the son of Grover Carson and Linda Bryan of Bladenboro and the grandson of the late Carson and Alma Bryan, Pauline Hewett and the Rev. Vernon Hewett of Bladenboro.

He graduated from Bladenboro High School and attended East Carolina University. He is co-owner of Eastern Plumbing in Greenville.

The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a white formal gown of Alecon lace and satin with a strapless neckline. The fitted bodice was embellished with Alecon lace, pearls and sequins accented with a candy box bow at the waist. The A-line skirt of Alecon lace cascaded into a semi-cathedral train.

Her crystal-embellished tiara was attached to a two-tiered veil of silk illusion accented with a pencil edging.

The bride carried a bouquet of green cymbidium orchids accented with white dendrobiums, hot pink roses and hot pink calla lilies.

Deanne Askew of Greenville served her sister as matron of honor.

Scott Edward Johnston of New Bern was best man.

Ushers were Dustin Overman of Greenville, brother of the bride, and Gary Bryan, Lewis Bryan, Austin Bryan of Bladenboro, nephews of the groom.

Allyson Burney of Bladenboro, niece of the groom, was the junior bridesmaid.

Mallory Reagan Askew of Greenville, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Carson Burney of Bladenboro, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.

Debra Lane of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Kelsey Moore of Myrtle Beach, S.C., cousin of the bride, and Danielle Hewett of Hampstead, cousin of the groom.

Pam and Gary Bunn and Cynthia and Rick Thornton of Goldsboro greeted guests and said good-byes.

A program of wedding music was provided by Doctor Goodman of Clayton and Anna Grubbs, cousin of the bride, violinists.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception and dance.

After a wedding trip to the Outer Banks, the couple will reside in Winterville.

Events held before the wedding included a bachelorette/lingerie party Aug. 26 in Greenville hosted by Deanne Askew, sister, and Lauren White, friend; a cookout and miscellaneous shower Aug. 12 at the home of the bride’s parents hosted by the Grubbs family; and a bridal shower July 9 at the home of Susan Stanley of Goldsboro hosted by Ms. Stanley, Debra Lane and Jennifer Ward, friends of the family and Carolyn Overman, aunt of the bride.

The couple’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Sept. 9 at the home of the bride’s parents.
