ATLANTIC BEACH — Patrice Barnes and Waylon Worrells exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 11 at 5:30 p.m at the boardwalk, with the Rev. Renee Melby officiating.

The bride is the daughter of John and Kathryn Barnes of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Eva Barnes and retired Staff Sgt. E.B. and Dorothy Collins of Goldsboro.

She is a 2000 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2004 graduate of North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She is employed as a second-grade teacher at Brogden Primary School.

The groom is the son of Linwood and Lorice Worrells of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Linwood Worrells, Mary Worrells and the late George Yelverton of Goldsboro and Vera Yelverton of Brooklyn, N.Y.

He graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1999 and Campbell University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communications. He is employed at Wilson County Emergency Services.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a strapless gown accented with Austrian crystals with a chiffon overlay. It had a trumpet skirt with a trailing train.

Her veil was edged with austrian crystals.

The bride carried a bouquet of purple and yellow chrysanthemums.

Michell Best directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Latosha Caulken. Carolyn Phifer distributed programs.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held Aug. 12 at Greenleaf Vision of Faith Community Center.

Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower Aug. 25. hosted by Lorice and Latrice Worrells and a miscellaneous shower July 22 hosted by Karena Barnes, sister of the bride.

After a wedding trip, the couple reside in Goldsboro.
