BOONE — Jessica Lynn Newsome and Jason Christopher Hoyle of Valdese exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 15 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jeff Mathis officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Leonard Mark and Regina Hargrove Newsome of Pikeville and the granddaughter of William H. “John” and Alice Faye Hargrove of Mount Olive, Lou Newsome Sasser of Pikeville and the late Leonard M. Newsome.

She is a 2002 honor graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree in music therapy and a minor in psychology. She is employed as a music therapist with Valley Nursing Center.

The groom is the son of Carroll D. and Aleta Matthews Hoyle of Rutherford College and the grandson of Gerald P. and Dorothy Matthews of Rolesville and the late Florence Freeman and J.D. Hoyle of Hildebran.

He is a 1999 graduate of East Burke High School of Icard and Appalachian State University with a master’s degree in music education. He is employed as an assistant band director with Freedom High School in Morganton.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a formal one-piece, white strapless gown with an embroidered tulle overlay layered asymmetrically and fanning across the front of the skirt from the ruched side waist. A tulle overlay wrapped asymmetrically across the back zipper finished with a button and loop closure.

Her tiara of crystals and pearls was attached to an elbow-length veil.

The bride carried a meadow bouquet of peonies and pink calla lilies accented with pink bouvardia, Sweet William and green hypericum berries wrapped in a hosta leaf adorned with a white satin ribbon.

Aubrey Benfield of Boone served as matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Elyse Bonana of Raleigh, Jennifer Rhyne of Charlotte, Stacey Thompson of Greenville and Melody Wells of Pikeville.

Carroll D. Hoyle served as his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Seth Dunlap of Valle Crucis, Jeremy Lowder of Shelbyville, Ky., Jeremy Newsome, brother of the bride, and Brandon Rollyson of Rutherford College.

Ushers were Michael Callicutt of Bennett and Daniel Kern of Star.

Katlyn Nicole Hargrove of Mount Olive and Molly Elizabeth Best of Faison, cousins of the bride, were flower girls. William Scott Hargrove of Mount Olive, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer.

Dalton W. Mitchell of Princeton, cousin of the bride, was Bible bearer.

Linda N. Bradford and Lisa N. Mitchell of Princeton, aunts of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Jaime Lowder of Shelbyville.

Dr. Wayne Brown was Scripture reader.

A program of wedding music was provided by Elizabeth Hill, organist; brass quintet members Chris Serina of Boone and Charlie Thomas of Lake Norman, trumpeters; Kari King of Asheville, horn; Amy Thomas of Lake Norman, trombonist; Joseph Brown of Gastonia, brass trombonist; and Randall Outland of Boone, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Broyhill Inn of Boone. A cream and sage green wedding cake with fresh flowers was served.

Out-of-town guests were from Connecticut, Pennsyl-vania, Virginia, Kentucky and South Carolina.

After a wedding trip to Negril, Jamaica, the couple reside in Valdese.

Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous bridal shower June 28 at First Baptist Church of Boone hosted by church members; a miscellaneous shower June 3 at the home of David and Mary Hoyle of Hildebran hosted by the groom’s family; a miscellaneous shower May 20 at Faith Community Church of Valdese hosted by church members; a miscellaneous shower May 13 at Free Chapel Free Will Baptist Church hosted by the bride’s family; and a lingerie shower Oct. 29 at the home of Aubrey Benfield of Bone hosted by Ms. Benfield and Elyse Bonano.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Chetola Manor House Restaurant of Blowing Rock.
