RALEIGH — Kay Kristine Fornecker and Kenneth Christopher Wigington exchanged vows May 27 at 3 p.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with Father William E. McConville officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Fornecker of Kings Mountain and the granddaughter of Ollie Fornecker and the late Irving Fornecker of Pikeville and the late Harold McDowell and Aleen Kontz (formerly of Elkton, S.D.

She is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a bachelor of arts degree in arts applications. She is employed as a mortgage production assistant at SunTrust Mortgage.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Carlisle Wigington of Fuquay-Varina and the grandson of the late Leonard and Grace Pence and the late George and Dorothy Wigington (formerly of Akron, Ohio).

He graduated from Malone College of Ohio with a bachelor of arts degree in communications. He is employed as district manager of ADP Payroll Services.

Courtney Swope of Raleigh served her friend as matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Mischia Taylor of Shelby, Katie Page of Raleigh, Amie Petrik of Akron, Elicia Frye of Kings Mountain and Andrea Barrows of Boston, Mass.

Mark Petrik of Akron served as his friend’s best man.

Groomsmen were Benjamin Fornecker of Fuquay-Varina and Joseph Fornecker of Kings Mountain, brothers of the bride, and Brent Snyder, Maciek Gracz and William Young of Raleigh.

Mitch Fornecker of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, was the cross bearer.

The bride was escorted by her father.

She wore a one-piece gown of ivory taffeta with a strapless bodice and a drop waist embellished with beadwork and silver threading. The A-line gown cascaded into a chapel-length train. Gathers throughout the skirt were embellished with appliqués of beadwork and silver threading.

Her fingertip-length ivory veil had a finished edge and was attached to a tiara.

The bride carried a bouquet of cream peonies tipped with pink and tied with ivory ribbon.

Kelli Daberkow of Lakefield, Minn., cousin of the bride; Patrick Misko of Raleigh, friend of the couple; and Samuel Fornecker of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride; were readers.

Jeanie Fornecker of Goldsboro, aunt of the bride, coordinated the wedding.

Erica Wigington, sister of the groom, was the guest attendant.

Amy Misko and Jamilah McClain of Raleigh, friends of the bride, were gift attendants.

A program of wedding music was provided by Melanie Young, harpist; J. Eugene Pipas, pianist and organist; and Deb Mizerk, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at the North Carolina Museum of Art. A cream-colored wedding cake with pink flowers was served.

After a wedding trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple reside in Durham.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at William B. Umstead State Park.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower hosted by the bride’s mother; an engagement shower hosted by Courtney Swope, Jamilah McClain and Katie Page; a bachelorette party and shower hosted by Courtney Swope and Amy Miski; and a bachelor part hosted by Brent Snyder.
