Sharon Darrell Gillette Sutton of LaGrange and the Rev. Harold O’Keef Warren exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 13 at 5 p.m. at Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Church Association Headquarters Building, with the Rev. Michael A. Johnson officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Milton Gillette Sr. and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Parks of Bronx, N.Y.

She is a 1981 graduate of North Lenoir High School and a graduate of Pitt Community College with an associate degree in medical assisting. She is employed as a patient care coordinator for the department of surgical oncology at East Carolina University School of Medicine.

The groom is the son of Minnie Lewis Bell and the late Johnnie Lee Warren of Goldsboro.

He graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1977 and the University of North Carolina in 1981 with a degree in business administration.

He is employed as a records specialist in the basic skills department at Wayne Community College and as pastor of Liberty Grove Missionary Baptist Church of LaGrange.

The bride was escorted by her father and son and given in marriage by her parents and children, Calvin Earl Sutton and Asha LaTrece Sutton of LaGrange.

She wore a formal gown of white Italian satin and Alencon lace with a portrait neckline and short sleeves embellished with pearls and lace. Beaded lace enhanced the Basque bodice and pearl and lace appliqués adorned the full skirt. The back bodice was interwoven with beaded lace and satin rosettes with streamers. Cascading pearl and lace motifs defined the cathedral train.

A long veil was attached to a hairpiece adorned with satin rosettes and babies’ breath.

Phillis Swinson of LaGrange served as his sister’s matron of honor while Asha LaTrece Sutton of LaGrange was as her mother’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Carol Evette Modlin of Greenville, Collette Albritton Parker of Zebulon, Valorie Greenfield Kornegay of Goldsboro, sister of the groom, the Rev. Robin Aultman Clinton of Goldsboro, and Sarah Elizabeth Dawson of Snow Hill, sister of the bride.

The Rev. Charles Howard of Goldsboro served as his cousin’s best man.

Calvin Earl Sutton of LaGrange, son of the bride, was head groomsman. Groomsmen were Bishop Melvin Walker of New Bern, Donovan Parker of Zebulon, Derrick Simmons of LaGrange, Robert Lee Kornegay Jr. of Goldsboro, brother-in-law of the groom, and Billy Simmons of Goldsboro.

Ushers were Clifton Joyner, Roderick Gillette and Greg Gillette of LaGrange; Richard Gillette Jr. of Virginia, brother of the bride; Clifton Battle of Goldsboro; and Stephen Carraway III of Kinston.

Soweto Sutton of Kinston, niece of the bride, and Marisha Joneice Greenfield of Goldsboro, niece of the groom, were flower girls. Armarti Ty’Quan Bates of LaGrange was ringbearer.

Hostesses were Barbara Dillahunt, Clara Aytch and Brenda Dove of Kinston; Stacey Johnson, Angela Jones, Annie Croom, Shlisa Waters, Shari Hart, Clara Suggs, Jean Waters and Nikiala Simmons of LaGrange; Linda Rouse, Keecia Rouse and Tina Jones of Goldsboro; and Doris Gardener of Raleigh.

Linda Branch of Kinston directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Janice Best of Goldsboro, cousin of the groom.

Teresa Joyner was poem reader.

A program of wedding music was provided by Dr. Benjamin Johnson and Minister Tracey Lewis of Goldsboro,musicians; and the Rev. Charles Franklin of Goldsboro and Michelle Hobbs of Goldsboro, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, Liberty Grove Missionary Baptist Church family held a reception at Bear Creek fellowship hall. Helen Harris of Goldsboro was the director.

After a wedding trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple reside in Kinston.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower May 6 at the home of Dr. Rosa E. Cuenca in Greenville hosted by Dr. Cuenca; a surprise dinner May 5 at Applebee’s hosted by ladies of Liberty Grove Church of LaGrange; a miscellaneous shower April 28 at the Leo Jenkins Cancer Center hosted by Karen Clark, co-worker; a lingerie shower March 18 at the home of Barbara Dillahunt in Kinston hosted by Mrs. Dillahunt, Verna Ruffin and Alicia Williams; a lunch March 4 at Ryan’s; and a wedding party breakfast Jan. 7 at Ryan’s.

The Rev. and Mrs. Joe A. Jackson of Goldsboro held a rehearsal dinner May 12 at Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
