Jamie Lynn Gardner and John George Sears of Wilmington pledged their promises May 6 at 6 p.m.

The Rev. Dock Hobbs officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

The bride is the daughter of David C. and Bobbie Q. Gardner of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Bonnie W. Vanderburg, the late Alfred S. Vanderburg, Lou S. Kearney, the late J. Roger Kearney, the late D. Ray Gardner and Shirley D. Gardner of Goldsboro.

John George and Betty Sears of Jacksonville are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of the late Robert and June Sears.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white satin side-draped gown with one shoulder embellished with appliqués and beading. Crystal beading enhanced the bodice and waistline. The lower edge had embroidered appliqués and beading and flowed into a chapel-length train.

For her headpiece, she chose a full-length veil. She carried a clutch bouquet of stargazer lilies and white roses adorned with white and pink satin flowing streamers.

Jessica G. Odom, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Joy D. Gardner, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.

John G. Sears was his son’s best man. Donald R. Gardner, uncle of the bride, was the usher. Brian Odom was the groomsman.

Dana-Lou Daniels, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Michael David Masciave, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.

Peggy G. Daniels, aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Allison Howell and Liz Powell. Brianna Daniels, niece of the bride, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Patsy Gardner, pianist, and Joy Gardner, vocalist.

After a wedding trip to Orlando, Fla., the couple is residing in Wilmington.

The bride is a 2000 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and East Carolina University. She is employed with Atlantic Towers of Wilmington.

The groom graduated from high school in 1998 in Wilmington. He is employed with Ruckers John of Wilmington.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Crossroads Restaurant.

On May 5, a rehearsal dinner was held at Texas Steakhouse.

Family and friends held a bachelor party April 29 in Jacksonville.

April 28 through 30, friends and family held a bachelorette weekend in Wilmington.

Family and friends held a bridal shower March 26 at Free Chapel Church.
