J. Carolina Pate of Morehead City became the bride of Jeffrey E. Buchanan of Morehead City March 4 at 6:30 p.m.

Pastor Bill Sutton officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Tabernacle Pentecostal Church.

The bride is the daughter of Joy S. Pate and the late Melvin E. Pate of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Ruby Lee Smith and the late Arthur L. Smith of Goldsboro and the late George Frank and Lettie O. Pate of Warsaw.

The groom is the son of the late Julia I. Taylor of Morehead City and Roy Lee Buchanan Sr. of Chester, Va. He is the grandson of the late Addie G. Taylor of Broad Creek, the late Barbara Powers of Buchanan, Va., and the late Roy Lee Buchanan of Cherokee, Va.

Given in marriage by her mother, the bride wore a satin gown with side draping and beaded champagne appliqués with a chapel train.

She chose a headpiece of matching champagne appliqués.

Sandee English of Morehead City, friend of the bride, was maid of honor.

Chuck Knorr of Morehead City was his friend’s best man. Ushers were Zachary McBarron of Goldsboro, nephew of the bride; and Jeff McBarron and David Coghill of Goldsboro, brothers-in-law of the bride.

Danielle P. McBarron of Goldsboro, niece of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.

Sherry Smith of Goldsboro, aunt of the bride, directed the wedding.

A program of wedding music was provided by Shaun Smith, nephew-in-law of the bride.

After a wedding trip to Cape Carteret, the couple is residing in Morehead City.

The bride is a 1987 graduate of Goldsboro High School. She is employed as a senior underwriter with Southern Cross Underwriters.

The groom is employed as a manager with Buchanan Custom Homes and Renovations LLC.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.

On Feb. 25, Chuck Knorr held a golf outing at Morehead City Country Club.

The couple held a prewedding celebration Feb. 25 at Crab’s Claw Oceanfront Dining of Morehead City.

On Feb. 25, Dana A. Todd of Virginia Beach, Va., friend of the bride, held a shower.

The Coastal Carolina Association of Insurance Professionals held a bridal shower Feb. 7.

A rehearsal dinner was held at Wilbur’s Barbecue. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
