Joyner - Davis
Kimberly Renee’ Davis and Kenneth Earl Joyner Jr. were united in holy matrimony March 4 at 5 p.m.
The Rev. Dennis Goodwin officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Saint Paul United Methodist Church.
Parents of the bride are John Thurman Jr. and Brenda Pittard Davis of Mount Olive. She is the granddaughter of the late Jesse Earnest Jr. and Sara Harris Pittard, Ila Mae Outlaw Davis and the late John Thurman Davis Sr. of Mount Olive.
Parents of the groom are Kenneth Earl Sr. and Diane Bishop Joyner of Mount Olive. He is the grandson of the late James Allen and Jeane Savage Bishop of Clinton and the late Clement Elliott and Elsie Sutton Joyner of Newton Grove.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory modern couture strapless A-line gown. The bodice featured silver beadwork and pearls highlighted with overlapping pleated tucks. The A-line skirt was accentuated with a side sweep front and decorated hemline. It was finished with a beaded and pearl cathedral-length train accentuated with satin covered buttons.
She chose a headpiece of beadwork and pearls with an ivory blush veil. She carried a bouquet of pink calla lilies, lisianthus, sweet peas, snow berries, bells of Ireland and bear grass accentuated with jewels.
Beth David Culbreth and Kristyn Davis Reish, sisters of the bride, were matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Carrie Evelyn Bell of Greensboro, friend of the bride; Heather Bliss Pinault of Raleigh, Natalie Ennis Turrone of Clayton and Sarah Allene Cochran of West Virginia, friends of the bride; Jamie Joyner Livengood of Goldsboro, sister of the groom; and Ashley Nicole Wiggins of Mount Olive, friend of the couple.
Kenneth Earl Joyner Sr. was best man. Groomsmen were Neal Owen Benton of Greenville and Benjamin Ray Whetsell of Mount Olive, friends of the couple; Ronald Clayborne Foxworth of Princeton, Dwight Carroll Ratley of Red Springs and Michael Wayne Walters of Goldsboro, friends of the groom; and Michael Adam Livengood of Goldsboro, brother-in-law of the groom.
Betty Caroline Summerlin of Mount Olive, friend of the bride’s family, was flower girl. Charles Turner Worth of Mount Olive, friend of the bride’s family, was ring bearer.
Judy Hunt Gourley and Cindy Ezzell Bell directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Amy Leigh Poovey, college friend of the bride. Caroline Margaret Pittard of Greensboro, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond L. Smith, friends of the bride, greeted guests. Rachel Erin Pittard of Greensboro, cousin of the bride, was the crucifer. Readers were Haywood Glenn Cummings, friend of the families, and Annie Joyner, aunt of the groom.
Ricky Bell, friend of the families, was a special helper.
A program of wedding music was provided by Mark Kevin Gourley of Goldsboro, organist; Kelly Grantham Quinn of Goldsboro, friend of the bride’s family, and William Whitfield Baldwin of New York, friend of the couple, vocalists; and Paige Vickory Barwick, friend of the couple, violinist.
After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple is residing in Mount Olive.
The bride is a 2004 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She was a member of Golden Key Honor Society. She is employed was a registered nurse with the dialysis unit of Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The groom graduated from Mount Olive College with a bachelor of science degree in recreation. He is employed as a therapeutic recreation specialist with O’Berry Center.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Southern Wayne County Club. A five-tiered stack ivory cake with white detailing and a floral J on top was served. Mr. and Mrs. Elias J. Bundy, friends of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. Brad Brock, cousin of the bride, greeted guests.
On March 3, Judy Smith, friend of the bride, and her family; Mae Davis, grandmother of the bride; Kaye Brock, cousin of the bride; and Esteen Quinn, great-aunt of the bride; and Wanda Davis, Betty Pittard and Rebecca Pittard, aunts of the bride; held a bridesmaids’ luncheon and wine tasting at the Bistro at Duplin Winery of Rose Hill. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.
A bachelor party weekend was held Feb. 25 in Wilmington.
On Feb. 23, staff of Wayne Memorial Hospital’s dialysis unit held a shower.
Jean Ball, Katherine Hanson, Elaine Ivey, Norma Carole McDonald, Doris Oates, Irene Patten, Donna Ricks and Francis Williams held a shower Feb. 19 at First Methodist Church.
On Feb. 18, Buck and Beth Culbreth, brother-in-law and sister of the bride, and Adam and Jamie Culbreth, brother-in-law and sister of the groom, held a party and shower at the Livengood home.
Natalie Turrone and Heather Bliss, college friends of the bride, held a bachelorette weekend Feb. 4 in Raleigh and Clayton.
Aunts and uncle of the groom held a dinner Jan. 29 at Oasis Seafood and Oyster Bar of Clinton.
On Jan. 7, an engagement party was held at Southern Wayne Country Club.
