Jessica Ann Rains of Clayton and Jamie Daniel Farnell of Goldsboro pledged their vows Feb. 25 at 4 p.m.

The Rev. David Harvin officiated at the double-ring ceremony at St. Luke United Methodist Church.

The bride is the daughter of William Stephen and Lois Rains of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Frances Charbonneau of Goldsboro and William R. and Ruby Rains of Goldsboro and the late Alfred Charbonneau.

The groom is the son Jim and Peggy Farnell of Uniontown, Ohio. He is the grandson of Nancy Ryan of Timonium, Md., the late Matthew Ryan, the late Dorothy Farnell and the late Herb Farnell.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white matte Italian satin and re-embroidered Alencon lace with a halter neckline embellished with pearls, rhinestone and sequin. Beaded embroidery accented the princess bodice. Pearl, sequin and rhinestone lace appliqués accented the A-line skirt. The back bodice was interwoven with beaded lace, pearl, rhinestone and sequin cascading lace motifs. It had a semi-cathedral train.

She chose a rhinestone headpiece. She carried a bouquet of pink roses.

Amanda Rains MacDowell of Cary, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Jennifer Dudley of Rocky Mount, friend of the couple, and Stephanie Rains of Goldsboro, sister of the bride, were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Courtney Farnell of Lynchburg, Va., sister of the groom; Jennifer Kemper of Greensboro, cousin of the bride; and Ginny Hoyle of Chapel Hill and Christy Bagley of Cary, friends of the couple.

Ben Grosko of Akron, Ohio, was his friend’s best man. Ushers were Jeremy Farnell, brother of the groom, Brooks Rogers, Kiel Nichols and Aaron Womack of Goldsboro, Joe Grosko of Uniontown and Justin Bryan of Raleigh, friends of the couple. Groomsmen were Brian Gierveld, Nick Ward and Jake Meier of Goldsboro, friends of the couple.

Linda Amon of Kenansville, friend of the couple, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Janet Parks, aunt of the bride. Joy Beth Whitfield and Laura Whitfield of Goldsboro, friends of the couple, distributed programs.

Hannah Emerson and Caitlin Emerson were acolytes.

A program of wedding music was provided by Bess Edwards-Sawyer, organist; Rick Pridgen and Sarah Edwards, vocalists; and Mary Hogan, violinist.

After a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Clayton.

The bride is a 2001 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2005 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. She is employed as a sales representative with Ferguson Heating and Cooling of Raleigh.

The groom graduated from Green High School of Ohio in 1996. He is serving in the Air Force at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base as a crew chief with the 335th Fighter Squadron and with the F-15 demonstration team.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Walnut Creek Country Club. Kate Ryan, aunt of the groom, and Sue Kemper, aunt of the bride, served the wedding cake. Kirby and Mary Ann Dudley, friends of the coupe, greeted guests.

On Feb. 25, Frances Charbonneau, grandmother of the bride, held a bridal brunch at her home.

Ruby Rains, grandmother of the bride, and Debbie Davis, aunt of the bride, held a bridesmaids’ luncheon Feb. 24 at the Royal Tea Room of Selma. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.

On Feb. 24, the groom’s parents held a Mexican fiesta rehearsal dinner at Walnut Creek Country Club. The groom chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.

Al and Joy Beth Whitfield, Kirby and Mary Ann Dudley and Bill and Mary Rogers, friends of the couple, held a tool and home shower at the Whitfield home.

On Jan. 28 Mary Ann and Jennifer Dudley held a surprise lingerie shower in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Jan. 26 through 29, Amanda MacDowell, sister of the bride, held a bachelorette party weekend in Myrtle Beach.

Stephanie Rains, sister of the bride, held a miscellaneous shower Jan. 22 at St. Luke Church.

Nick Ward and Brian Gierveld held a surprise bachelor party.
