Emily Lynn Jones and James Rodney Odom II were wed Saturday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m.

The Reverend Dr. Jerry Jackson officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Providence United Methodist Church.

The bride is the daughter of Greg Jones and Laura Anderson of Goldsboro. She is the stepdaughter of Wayne Anderson and Alice Jones. She is the granddaughter of Donald and Doris Herring and George and Geraldine Jones of Goldsboro.

The groom is the son of James and Amanda Odom of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of Maggie Witherington of Mount Olive, the late Bill Witherington, Eliza Odom of Goldsboro and the late Charlie Odom.

Given in marriage by her family and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory ballgown with layers of organza, a scarlet red sash of satin at the waist and a chapel-length train.

For her headpiece, she chose a princess cap of pearls and embroidered ivory lace with an ivory lace veil accented with flowers along the sides. She carried a bouquet of red roses, baby’s breath and rubrum lilies.

Katie Jones, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Lindsey Street and Whitney Taylor, friends of the bride, and Candace Dobbins, sister of the groom.

James Odom was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Bill Odom and Chris Mooring, cousins of the groom, and Chris Neal, friend of the groom.

Alexis Dobbins, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Charlie Odom, brother of the groom was ring bearer.

Patricia Herring, aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Kaye Lindsay, aunt of the groom. Karen Jones and Heather Jones, sisters of the bride, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Gerald Herring, organist.

After a wedding trip to Charleston, S.C., the couple is residing in Goldsboro.

The bride is a 2002 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 2005 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in English.

The groom graduated from Rosewood High School in 1999. He is employed as a farmer with Howell Farming Co.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.

The grooms parents held a rehearsal dinner Jan. 13 at Providence Church.

On Jan. 7, Katie Jones and Laura Anderson held a bridesmaids’ luncheon at the home of the bride.

Amanda Odom and Candace Dobbins held a bridal shower Dec. 11 at the home of the groom.

On Dec. 4, Patricia Herring, Brenda Taylor, Brenda Cox and Carol Price held a miscellaneous shower at Providence Church.
