MOUNT OLIVE — Laura Brigette Jackson and Jason Daniel Herring were united in holy matrimony Saturday, Dec. 10, at 3 p.m.

The Rev. Bob Goodman and the Rev. Doug Bartlett officiated at the double-ring ceremony at First Pentecostal Church.

Parents of the bride are Owen and Janet Jackson. She is the granddaughter of Bruce and Alice Beavers, the late Helen Creech Beavers and Ashton and Fannie Jackson of Mount Olive.

Parents of the groom are Donald and Linda Herring of Mount Olive. He is the grandson of the late Morris and Sarah Kornegay and the late Louis and Hazel Herring of Mount Olive.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal white strapless satin gown. The fitted bodice was embroidered and adorned with bugle beads that cascaded down the chapel-length train.

For her headpiece, she chose a tiara and veil of silk illusion accented with rhinestones.

Shannon Jackson of Mount Olive, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Pamela Coker of Virginia; Page Jones and April Parrish of LaGrange, friends of the bride; and Candace Hall of Seven Springs, sister of the groom.

Donald Herring was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Darren Herring of Mount Olive and Dean Herring of Goldsboro, brothers of the groom; Jimmy Hall of Seven Springs, brother-in-law of the groom; Blake Herring of Mount Olive, nephew of the groom; and Jeffrey Jackson of Mount Olive, brother of the bride.

Shelly Lee of Greenville, Jenny Hall of Seven Springs and Alyssa Herring of Mount Olive, nieces of the groom, were junior bridesmaids.

Madison Cottle of LaGrange, friend of the bride, was flower girl. Nathan Hall of Seven Springs, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.

Samantha Beavers of Mount Olive, cousin of the bride, was the miniature bride. David Jackson of Mount Olive, nephew of the bride, was the miniature groom.

Lisa Goodman, friend of the bride, was the bride’s attendant.

Sandra Thompson and Kellie Davis, friends of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Karen Hood, friend of the bride. Kristen Knowles, friend of the groom, distributed programs.

The Rev. Carol Richardson gave a pastoral blessing.

A program of wedding music was provided by Clay Davis, sound director; and Mr. and Mrs. Jason Cox, Kevin Coates and Karen Morgan, friends of the bride.

After a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Mount Olive.

The bride is a 1996 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 2001 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor of science degree in child life and a teaching certificate. She is employed with Duplin County Schools.

The groom graduated from North Duplin High School in 1992. He is self-employed in the trucking business.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception in the church fellowship hall. Merdie Best, friend of the bride, was director. Rose Beavers, aunt of the bride; Leigh Best, cousin of the bride; and Ruby Kornegay and Bonnie Lambert, aunts of the groom, were servers. Taylor Rivenbark, Nikki Goodman and Noel and Hannah Smith, friends of the bride, were junior servers. Alyssa Best, Casey Jackson, Mattie Byrd and Coleen Creech, cousins of the bride, distributed favors. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Beavers, uncle and aunt of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. Garry Grantham, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Rivenbark and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Mangum, friends of the bride, greeted guests and said good-byes.

On Dec. 9, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Church. The groom chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.

Darlene Grantham, Kellie Davis, Gina Grantham, Karen Mangum, Vanessa Rivenbark and Lisa Goodman held an Esther banquet Dec. 4 at Covenant Fellowship Church.

On Dec. 3, Amanda Byrd, Leigh Best and Marie Cashwell held a gift card shower at the Byrd home.

Jeffrey Jackson, brother of the bride, held a bachelor fishing day Nov. 26 in Bayboro.

On Nov. 26, Shannon Wells, Pamela Coker, Page Jones and April Parrish held a lingerie shower and bachelorette party.

Sandra Thompson, Page Jones, April Parrish, Maxine Summerlin, Karen Morgan, Joyce Coates, Lori Thomas, Karen Mangum, Darlene Grantham and Christa Coates held a floating miscellaneous shower Nov. 13 at the home of Jeffrey and Shannon Jackson.

On Nov. 6, the groom’s family and friends held a floating miscellaneous shower at Mount Olive Pentecostal Church.

Glenda Beavers, Rose Beavers and Lynn Sox, aunts of the bride, held a bridesmaids’ luncheon Nov. 5 at Nino’s Italian Restaurant. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.

On June 4, the groom’s family held an engagement party at the home of Darren and Becky Herring, brother and sister-in-law of the groom.
