Renzella Makitha Miller of Goldsboro and Christopher Brian Mitchell said their marriage vows Oct. 15 at 3 p.m.
Charlie A. Mitchell officiated at the double-ring ceremony at First African Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of James Ivory and Ella Louise Baxter of Snow Hill. She is the granddaughter of the late Gentle Grant and Leora McDowell Davis of Browntown.
Parents of the groom are Charlie Albert and Herlene Mitchell of Dudley. He is the grandson of Herdy Lee and Elizabeth Leftridge, the late Lenora Mitchell and Jessie Albert Mitchell of Goldsboro.
The groom was escorted by his mother. Given in marriage by her parents and son, Reginald Gooding, and escorted by her son, the bride wore a full-length gown of puffed beaded and sequined sleeves. It had an A-line waist with a full train decorated with beads and sequins in a flower pattern.
For her headpiece, she chose baby’s breath, flower beads and sequins with a seven-inch veil. She carried a bouquet of white roses with green flowers and blue periwinkle ribbons.
Chantal N. Wright, friend, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Nortia Curry of Goldsboro, sister of the groom; Michelle Lewis of Goldsboro; Manuwella Wheeler of Goldsboro, friend of the couple; and Denise Mitchell of Raleigh, sister-in-law of the groom.
Curtis D. Mitchell of Raleigh was his brother’s best man. Ushers were C’Vardez Spruill and Alanda Mitchell of Goldsboro, brothers of the groom; Christopher Robinson of Fremont, friend of the groom; and Terrance Canady of Wilson, friend of the couple.
Shauntina Miller of Goldsboro, daughter of the bride, and Jasmyne Wright of Goldsboro, goddaughter of the bride, were junior bridesmaids. Shaquille Miller and Reginald Gooding of Goldsboro, sons of the bride, were junior groomsmen.
Deja Wright of Goldsboro, goddaughter of the bride, was flower girl. Isaiah Hill of Kinston, cousin of the bride, was ring bearer.
Shamane Lewis of Goldsboro, friend of the couple, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Kizzy Williams of Goldsboro, friend of the couple. Donna Bulter and Peggy Miller of Goldsboro, friends of the couple, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Minnie Shephard of Hopwell, Va., aunt of the bride, pianist and vocalist; Dejuan Gardner of Goldsboro, friend of the groom, organist; Lavoris Wilson, Lantricia Kelly, Tyrone Smith, T.J. Wilson and Lashon Best of Goldsboro, vocalists; and Milton Waters of Goldsboro, friend of the groom, drummer.
The couple will take a wedding trip next year. They are residing in Goldsboro.
The bride is a 1991 graduate of Kinston High School and a 1997 graduate of Lenoir Community College with a cosmetology license. She attends Wayne Community College for a degree in business administration marketing and retail.
The groom graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1995 and Wayne Community College in 1998 with an associate degree in business administration marketing and retail. He is employed in customer sales with JCPenney.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Hosts were Brian David, Katina Coley and Latese Hill. Shamane Lewis was director.
On Oct. 14, Chantal Wright, friend of the bride, held a bridal joy night.
Gertrude Parks of Goldsboro held a bridal shower Oct. 14 at her home.
