Kara Lynn Johnson of Durham and Mark Douglas South of Chapel Hill said their promises Aug. 6 at 2 p.m.

The Rev. James Martin III officiated at the double-ring ceremony at First Presbyterian Church.

Parents of the bride are Gerald Wayne and Sue Bosserman Johnson of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of John Franklin and Mary Lee Bosserman, Evelyn Laverne Johnson and the late Elmer Newman Johnson of Harrisonburg, Va.

The groom is the son of Dr. Malcolm Hudson and Yvonne Tripp South of Durham. He is the grandson of the late Miles Clarence and Pearl Jones Tripp of Dunn and the late Arthur Hudson and Mary Catherine South of Gloucester, Va.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a V-neck gown with spaghetti straps and a crystal-beaded empire waist. It had a chiffon sweep train.

For her headpiece, she chose a cathedral-length veil scattered with crystals and pearls. She carried 15 miniature calla lilies.

Amy Dellinger was matron of honor. Lori Johnson was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mandy Freds, Lora Geer, Lori Brown and Elizabeth South.

Dr. Malcolm South was best man. Ushers were Jason Spencer, Chot Patsakham, Patrick Pun, Kevin Cummings and Jeremy Cook. Groomsmen were Mark Dyer, Richard Fisher, Rod Early, Joseph Lantz and Thomas Tebo.

Madelyn Dellinger was flower girl.

Phyllis Patterson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Kendra King and Heather Crutchfield.

Michelle Chin and Richard Alford were Scripture readers.

A program of wedding music was provided by Belinda Butler, organist, and Elizabeth South, vocalist.

After a wedding trip to Tuscany, Italy, the couple will reside in Chapel Hill.

The bride is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in elementary education. She is employed as an English as a second language teacher at Durham Public Schools.

The groom graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy. He is employed as a clinical and informatics pharmacist with the University of North Carolina Hospitals.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held. Cheryl Rosberg and Cristy Rainey, aunts of the bride, served the wedding cake. Rachel and Rebecca Bosserman, cousins of the bride, and Natasha Cupps and Sue Kuncis, friends of the bride, poured punch. Mark and Cynthia Pope and Mark and Candace Ferencik greeted guests.

On July 16, Amy Dellinger, Lori Johnson, Lori Brown and Lora Geer held a miscellaneous shower at the Brown home.

Amy Dellinger and Lori Johnson, sisters of the bride, held a lingerie shower and bachelorette party July 15 at the Johnson home.

On April 24, Lisa Botts, co-workers of the bride, held a miscellaneous shower at her home.

Mark and Sherri Dyer, friends of the couple, held an engagement party April 23 at their home.

A rehearsal dinner was held at Billie’s Backstreet Restaurant.
