Hardesty - Mayo
CHAPEL HILL -- Jennifer Karen Mayo and David Michael Hardesty pledged their vows July 2 at noon.
The Rev. Rick Mondell officiated at the double-ring ceremony at the Carolina Inn's Bryan Courtyard.
E. Ray and Janice Mayo of Pikeville are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of the late James and Madie Mayo of Fremont and the late Levi and Ruby Stump of Dudley.
George III and Maria Hardesty of North Redington Beach, Fla., are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Dr. Jose and Dr. Angela de Varona of Goldsboro and the late George Jr. and Naomi Hardesty of North Redington Beach.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless A-line gown of white satin with side draping and a chapel-length train. The back featured satin bridal buttons.
For her headpiece, she chose an elbow-length veil of white tulle. She carried a hand-tied clutch bouquet of roses, tulips, freesia, waxflower and ranuculus.
Jenna Wooten of Raleigh, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mariela Krajewski of Knoxville, Tenn., and Melissa O'Buch of Raleigh, sister of the groom, and Leslie Parsons of Chesapeake, Va., Kelly Finch of Smithfield and Kate Mercer of Greenville, friends of the bride.
George Hardesty IV of Wilmington was his brother's best man. Groomsmen were Steven Mayo of Pikeville, brother of the bride; Edwin Finch of Smithfield and Eric Thompson of Winston-Salem, cousins of the groom; and David Vause of Wilmington and Stephen Terry of Norfolk, Va., friends of the groom.
Tracy Mayo of Pikeville, sister-in-law of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Jessica Hardesty, sister-in-law of the groom. Kathryn Wessell, friend of the couple, distributed programs.
Fe Finch, aunt of the groom, was the reader.
A program of wedding music was provided by Udo and Emi Hildebrandt, violinists; Tito McCall, guitarist; and David Hardesty, vocalist.
After a wedding trip to St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles, the couple is residing in New York, N.Y.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School, a 2003 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and a 2004 graduate of New York University College of Dentistry with a certificate in clinical research. She attends New York University College of Dentistry for a doctorate in dental surgery.
The groom graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 1999. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is employed as a computer programer and is owner of Batch Technologies and an author for Apress Publishing.
Following the ceremony, the bride's parents held a reception and dance at the Carolina Inn's Old Well Room.
On July 1, the groom's parents held an after-rehearsal dinner at Aurora Restaurant of Chapel Hill.
Tracy Mayo held a bridesmaids' luncheon July 1 at the Weathervane of Chapel Hill.
On June 11, friends of the groom held a bachelor party in Wilmington.
Jenna Wooten and Melissa O'Buch held a bachelorette party June 11 in Raleigh.
On June 11, Tracy Mayo and Janice Mayo held a bridal shower at the home of the bride's parents.
