Mr. and Mrs. Brown

SUMTER, S.C. — Mary Elizabeth Cox of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Roy Eugene Brown of Oklahoma City said their promises June 4 at 4 p.m.

The Rev. David Barfield officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Swan Lake Iris Gardens Gazebo.

Col. Gerald G. and Linda Cox of Sumter are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Bernice Amelung and the late Sam Vardaman Toler of Clarksdale, Miss., and the late Jean Summerlin Cox and Gordon W. Cox of Sumter.

The groom is the son of William Jr. and Connie Brown of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of the late Roy and Betty Walters of Dennison, Ohio, and the late William Sr. and Donna Brown of Goldsboro.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.

Anneka Frederickson, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Brown, friend of the bride, and Amy Cox Watford and Kimberly Cox, cousins of the bride.

Jason Brown was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Andy Cox, brother of the bride, and Danon Lawson and Robert Williams, friends of the groom.

Brittney Brown and Claire Brown, nieces of the groom, were flower girls.

Leslie LaBiche, sister of the groom, and Alicia Lincoln distributed programs.

Alicia Lincoln, friend of the bride, was poem reader.

A program of wedding music was provided by Danon Lawson, vocalist, and Lauren Decker, Eric Hauser and Heather Matthews.

After a wedding trip to the Outer Banks, the couple is residing in Oklahoma City.

The bride is a graduate of the College of William and Mary with a degree in chemistry and the University of North Carolina with a double masters degree in public health and social work. She is employed as a health program coordinator with the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

The groom graduated with a bachelor of science degree in education in social studies. He is employed as a teacher with Green Hope High School of Wake County.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Swan Lake Visitor’s Center.

A rehearsal dinner was held at Shaw Air Force Base Officers’ Club.
