Douglass - Lanier
PIKEVILLE — Kaci Carlene Lanier and Airman 1st Class Marc Douglass of Lancaster, Calif., said their promises June 4 at 4 p.m.
The Rev. Eddie McKeel officiated at the double-ring ceremony at the home of Raul and Melissa Vera.
The bride is the daughter of Donna Lanier and the late Leonard Lanier of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Jimmie Best, the late Donald Best and Joyce Lanier of Goldsboro and Monroe Lanier of Durham.
The groom is the son of Raedene Blucher of Lancaster and Randy Douglass of Henderson, Nev., and the stepson of Harry Blucher III of Lancaster and Terri Douglass of Henderson. He is the grandson of the late Elnora Larson and the late Ross Larson of Boise, Idaho, and Katherine Sharp and the late Lyman Sharp of Preston, Idaho.
Given in marriage and escorted by her mother, the bride wore a white overlapping V-neck gown of batiste and Victorian lace with an empire waistline that flowed into an A-line skirt with a sweeping train.
For her headpiece, she chose a strand of miniature white daisies. She carried a cascading bouquet of white and yellow summer daisies accented with miniature purple daisies, purple and pink wildflowers, garden greenery and ivy.
Jessica Best, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.
Richard Fowler was his friend’s best man. Joey Lanier, brother of the bride, was the groomsman. Johnny Lanier, brother of the bride, was the usher.
Maddie Vera, friend of the couple, was the junior bridesmaid.
Gracie Vera, friend of the couple, was flower girl. Mikaela Vera, friend of the couple, was ring bearer.
Cooper Montgomery Douglass, son of the couple, was the honorary attendant.
Melissa Vera directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Beth Creech. Lindsey McKeel distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by T&L Karaoke Express.
The couple will take a wedding trip to Las Vegas, Nev., in November. They are residing in Goldsboro.
The bride is a 2003 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School. She attends Wayne Community College. She is employed as a substitute teacher with Wayne County Public Schools.
The groom graduated from Antelope Valley High School in Pennsylvania in 2002. He is serving in the Air Force as an F-15E crew chief.
Following the ceremony, a pig picking was held at the home of Raul and Melissa Vera. Stan and Susan Best, uncle and aunt of the bride, and Keith Phillips and Raul Vera, friends of the couple, were servers. Shirley Frazier, friend of the couple, cut the wedding cake.
On June 3, the bride’s mother and grandmother held a rehearsal dinner at the home of the bride’s grandmother.
Richard Fowler held a bachelor party May 27.
On May 22, Jessica Best, sister of the bride, held a surprise bridal shower.
