MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Mary Courtney Lanier of Goldsboro and Andrew William King were united in marriage April 30 at 5 p.m.

The Rev. Lamar Boulware officiated at the double-ring beach ceremony at the Sands Ocean Club Resort.

The bride is the daughter of Beth Wise Gore of Wilson and Ranny Lanier of Dudley and the stepdaughter of David Gore of Wilson and Anita Lanier of Dudley. She is the granddaughter of Maxine Wise, the late Sidney Wise and William and Dorothy Lanier of Grantham and stepgranddaughter of Edna Carr of Warsaw and Mr. and Mrs. William J. Sawrey of Goldsboro.

Parents of the groom are Thomas and Judy King of Goldsboro.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white chiffon with a sweetheart neckline. The fitted bodice was enhanced with spaghetti straps adorned with Swarovski crystals and pearls. The empire waistline flowed into a A-line skirt that cascaded into a sweep train.

For her headpiece, she chose a white phalaenopsis orchid. She carried a satin hand-tied bouquet of white phalaenopsis orchids.

Amanda Mills of Clayton, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Taylor Braswell, stepsister of the bride, was the bridesmaid.

Michael Flowers of St. Cloud, Minn., was his friend’s best man. Freddy King, brother of the groom, was the groomsman.

Ashante’ Smith of Princeton was flower girl.

Nancy Everett directed the wedding.

After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, the couple is residing in Goldsboro.

The bride is a graduate of Hunt High School of Wilson. She attended Mount Olive College and Wayne Community College. She is employed as a lead teacher at Princeton Daycare.

The groom graduated from Eastern Wayne High School and Wayne Community College with a degree in business administration and computer programming. He is employed as a technical support technician with MCI of Cary.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s mother and stepfather held a reception at the Sands Ocean Club Resort. Amber Musick, cousin of the bride, cut the wedding cake.

On April 20, co-workers of the bride held a miscellaneous shower at Princeton Daycare.

Maxine Wise, grandmother of the bride, and Jo Musick, aunt of the bride, held a bridal luncheon April 16 at Lane Tree Country Club. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.

On April 3, ladies of First Free Baptist Church of Wilson held a bridal shower at the church.

The bride’s father and stepmother held an engagement party March 20 at their home.

On March 12, Mary Pedigo, godmother of the bride, and Anne Joyner, friend of the bride, held a miscellaneous shower at the Pedigo home in Grantham.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Villa Romana of Myrtle Beach. The groom chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.
