Amber Noelle Pender and Jeremy Lynn Howell pledged their wedding vows Saturday, April 16, at 5 p.m.

Dr. Glenn Phillips Jr. officiated at the double-ring ceremony at First Baptist Church.

Gary and Louwanna Pender of Pikeville are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Lois Pender and the late Douglas Pender of Dudley and the late Fredrick and LouWilda and Cooke of Goldsboro.

Bobby and Terry Howell of Fremont are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of E.C. Bissette and the late Louise Bissette of Pikeville and the late Lloyd and Doris Howell of Fremont.

Presented in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless gown of white matte satin. The strapless bodice featured a scalloped neckline beaded with rhinestones, Swarovski crystals and iridescent seed pearls. The dropped waistline fell into a ballroom skirt. The back of the gown had covered buttons and flowed into a cathedral-length train.

For her headpiece, she chose a double-tiered fingertip-length veil with layers bordered with rhinestones. She carried a bouquet of yellow, orange and flamed miniature calla lilies.

Crystal Pender Johnson of Four Oaks, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Mary Ellen Corbett of Wilmington, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Carey Ginn of Wilmington and Leslie Thornton of Faison, friends of the bride, and Mendi Howell Burnham of Pikeville, sister of the groom.

Bobby Howell was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Jaramie Pender of Pikeville, brother of the bride; Keith Silver of Goldsboro, friend of the groom; and Stewart Howell of Pikeville and Brent Smith of Fremont, cousins of the groom. Ushers were Kent Johnson of Four Oaks, brother-in-law of the bride; Ron Sasser of Pikeville, friend of the bride; and Sterling Howell of Raleigh and Matthew Smith of Fremont, cousins of the groom.

Hunter and Holden Johnson of Four Oaks, nephews of the bride, were ring bearers.

Charise Buck of New Bern, cousin of the bride, directed the wedding, assisted by Elsie Hooks of Goldsboro, friend of the bride. Presiding at the register was Tracy Cole of Goldsboro, friend of the bride. Bill and Janise of Goldsboro, friends of the bride, and the Rev. Steve and Sharon Holder of Pikeville, friends of the groom, greeted guests and distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Melanie Horton of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, pianist and vocalist.

After a wedding trip to Grand Bahamas Island, the couple is residing in Pikeville.

The bride is a 2002 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2004 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate degree of applied science in business administration and a concentration in marketing and retailing.

The groom graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 1999 and Campbell University in 2003 with a bachelor of science degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. He is employed as a QA biologist with Hospira Inc. of Rocky Mount.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception in the church fellowship hall.

On April 16, the bride held a bridesmaids’ luncheon at the church.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner April 15 at El Bethel Assembly.

On April 13, co-workers of the groom held a surprise shower at Hospira.

The bride’s parents held a party April 9 at their home.

On April 3, Crystal Johnson, sister of the bride, and Cindy Thornton, friend of the bride, held a shower in First Baptist Church fellowship hall.

Jeanette Sasser and Lori Smith, aunts of the groom, held a shower March 19 at El Bethel Assembly.

On April 1, Mary Ellen Corbett and Carey Ginn, friends of the bride, held a bachelorette party.

Mendi Burnham, sister of the groom, and Kristie Howell, cousin of the groom, held a lingerie shower March 3 at the home of the groom’s parents.
