Mrs. Flippin

SNOW HILL — Kristen Leigh Hardy and Erik Anthony Flippin were married April 9 at 5 p.m.

Dr. Ralph M. Hill officiated at the double-ring ceremony at First Baptist Church, assisted by Chaplain (Col.) Gerald M. Mangham, great-uncle of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Bryant Hardy of Hookerton. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Titus Mewborn of LaGrange, Lillian Whitfield Hardy of Hookerton and the late Allen Blount Hardy.

The groom is the son of Ana Maria Gonzalez of Wilmington and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Lee Flippin of Yadkinville. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Angel Gonzalez of Miami, Fla., and Mr. and Mrs. William Taylor Flippin of Yadkinville.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white satin and Venise lace with a portrait neckline and spaghetti straps. Pearls, sequins and lace embellished the princess bodice and a satin A-line skirt accentuated the gown. The back bodice was interwoven with beaded lace. Pearls, sequins and lace motifs cascaded down the semi-cathedral train.

For her headpiece, she chose an elbow-length veil that flowed from a pearl tiara. She carried a bouquet of white tulips.

Heather Ham of Raleigh, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Hayley Shackelford of Greenville, Leslie Katkaveck of Cary, Tonia Dunn of Raleigh and Sarah Schell of Durham, friends of the bride.

Nathan Mitchell of Wilmington was his friend’s best man. Groomsmen were Joseph Flippin of Chapel Hill and Kevin Flippin of Annapolis, Md., brothers of the groom; Jonathan Hardy of Hookerton, brother of the bride; and Nicholas Casstevens of Boonville and Justin Henderson of Winston-Salem, friends of the groom.

Patricia Sugg of Snow Hill directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Mr. and Mrs. Jerone Herring of Montreat. Andrew Hardy and John Hardy of Oak Ridge, Tenn., cousins of the bride, distributed programs.

Mr. and Mrs. F.H. “Buzz” Shackelford of Hookerton greeted guests. Christina Creech of LaGrange was Scripture reader.

A program of wedding music was provided by Chris Matney of Ayden, pianist, and Lisa Adams of Chapel Hill and Eddie Adams of Snow Hill, vocalists.

The couple is residing in Pensacola, Fla.

The bride attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The groom attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is serving in the Air Force.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Officers’ Club. Mr. and Mrs. Parker Hardy of Oak Ridge and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Katkaveck of Hookerton greeted guests. Danielle and Jordyn Mosteller of Hamptonville, nieces of the groom, distributed rose petals.

On April 8, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Flippin held a rehearsal dinner at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Officers’ Club.

Edna Mewborn and Shirley Steppe held a bridesmaids’ luncheon April 8 at the Mewborn home.

April 1 through 3, bridal attendants held a bachelorette getaway in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Ada Carraway, Deborah Katkaveck, Lou Anne Shackelford and Gail Sugg held a miscellaneous bridal shower March 6 at the Shackelford home in Hookerton.

On Feb. 27, Diane Flippin, Carol Flippin and Wendy Mosteller held a bridal shower in Siloam.

Mr. and Mrs. William S. Lamm, Eunice Colclough and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Reeves of Goldsboro held a buffet dinner Feb. 20 at Goldsboro Country Club.
