OCHO RIOS, Jamaica — Scarlet Leigh Kirby of Goldsboro and Chad Anthony Medlin of Goldsboro were united in holy matrimony Feb. 3 at 2:30 p.m.

The Rev. Garland Black officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Sandels Grande Ocho Rios.

The bride is the daughter of Felix and Gloria Gurley of Princeton and Richard Kirby of Goldsboro.

Parents of the groom are Tony and Diane Medlin of Emerald Isle.

The bride wore a candlelight satin and organza overlaid gown with a chapel-length train. It was accented with glass bead sequins.

For her headpiece, she chose a band of pearls accented with rhinestones and a double-layered elbow-length veil. She carried a bouquet of stemmed pink and ivory roses.

Tony Medlin was his son’s best man.

Chandler Leigh Harris, daughter of the bride, was flower girl.

Suzette Higgins directed the ceremony.

A special ring ceremony and exchange of vows was held between the bride’s daughter and the groom in which the groom presented her with a ring to symbolize family unity.

After a wedding trip to Ocho Rios, the couple is residing in Goldsboro.

The bride is a graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate of applied science degree in electronics engineering and Mount Olive College with a bachelor of science degree in management and organizational development. She is employed as a claims representative for the Social Security Administra-tion.

The groom graduated from Wayne Community College with an associate of applied science degree in turfgrass management. He holds his North Carolina Real Estate Appraiser License. He is owner and operator of Accurate Appraisal Service.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Sandels Grande Ocho Rios’ reef terrace.

On Feb. 12, a reception and dance were held at Southern Wayne Country Club.

Beth Wood and Jeanette Waters held a stock-the-bar shower Jan. 29 at the home of the couple.

On Jan. 29, Michelle Ham, MeLinda Bartlett, Linda Bartlett, Lisa Bailey and Gloria Gurley held a miscellaneous breakfast at Antioch Original Free Will Baptist Church.

Co-workers of the bride held a shower Jan. 29.
