Bailey - Thompson
Jennifer Renee Thompson and Joseph Edward Bailey Jr. were united in holy matrimony on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.
Ray Smeltzer officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Adamsville Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Ronnie and Debbie Thompson of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Barbara Coats and the late Dr. James Coats, and Sue Thompson and Walter Thompson of Goldsboro.
Parents of the groom are Joe and Debbie Bailey of Princeton. He is the grandson of George Pool and Jean Pool of Princeton and the late J.T. Bailey of Eureka.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal sleeveless gown of Milano satin and Alencon lace with a sweetheart neckline embellished with pearls, sequins and lace. A princess bodice accented with beaded lace added emphasis. Pearls, sequins and lace adorned the A-line skirt. The back bodice was interwoven with beaded lace. Pearls and sequins defined the court train.
For her headpiece, she chose a three-tiered veil of silk illusion attached to a halo with a spray of roses and pearls. She carried a bouquet of fresh cut pink Gerber daisies, white daisies, champagne roses and white lilies with white satin ribbon wrapped around the stems. She also carried her late grandfather’s handkerchief.
Amy Thompson, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Metcalf, Tiffany Williams and Amy DeVaughn, friends of the bride, and Emily Bailey, Linzy Bailey and Missy Bailey, sisters of the groom.
Joe Bailey was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Joseph Franklin, Nick Harris, Michael Crocker and Shane Ellis, friends of the groom; Derrieck Pool, uncle of the groom; and Browning Pool, cousin of the groom.
Caroline and Emily Coats, cousins of the bride, were flower girls.
Mary Dixon and Barbara Dobbins, friends of the bride, directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register was Ashley Coats, cousin of the bride. Andrew and Joshua Coats, cousins of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jean Kirk, friend of the bride, organist; David Carawan, friend of the bride, guitarist; and Lisa Crocker, friend of the couple, Tim Owens, friend of the bride, and the bride’s mother, vocalists.
After a wedding trip to Disney World, Fla., the couple will reside in Princeton.
The bride is a 2001 academic scholar graduate of Eastern Wayne High School. She attended Wayne Community College for a certificate for nurse assistant. She is employed as a unit secretary and nursing assistant technician with Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The groom graduated with honors from Rosewood High School in 1999 and Wayne Community College in 2002 with an associate degree in information systems/network maintenance and support. He is employed as a front end manager with Winn-Dixie.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held. Mr. and Mrs. Parrish, friends of the groom, said hellos. Mr. and Mrs. Carmichael, friends of the bride, said good-byes. Alice Coats and Lynn Aldrich, aunts of the bride, served the wedding cake. Cheryl Coats, aunt of the bride, and Michelle Barr, friend of the couple, poured punch.
On Sept. 22, the bride and her mother held a bridesmaids’ dinner at Texas Steakhouse and Saloon.
Amy Thompson held a lingerie party Sept. 3 at her home.
On Sept. 1, the Women and Infant Center of the hospital held a bridal shower.
Adamsville Baptist Church held a floating bridal shower Aug. 29 in the fellowship hall.
On Aug. 21, Spring Hill Free Will Baptist Church, Debbie Bailey, family and friends held a bridal shower in the fellowship hall.
Darrin and Amy DeVaughn held a Pampered Chef party Aug. 21 at the Thompson home.
On Aug. 17, Town and Country ECA Club held a surprise kitchen gadget shower at Adamsville Church.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Adamsville Church fellowship hall. Special helpers were Mr. and Mrs. Parrish and Mr. and Mrs. Neal.
