GREENVILLE — Barbara Michelle Atkins of Winterville and Matthew Alan Lingle of Winterville said their marriage vows Saturday, July 31 at 6:30 p.m.
The Rev. Richard Bailey officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Memorial Baptist Church.
Dr. James Atkins and the late Sandra Glasgow of Goldsboro are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Glasgow of Roanoke Rapids and Mr. and Mrs. William Atkins and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Adair Amherst of Amherst, Mass.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Lingle of Fairfax, Va. He is the grandson of the late Norman Smith and Frances Smith of Fairfax.
Given in marriage by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Glasgow, and escorted by her grandfather, Robert Glasgow, the bride wore a candlelight gown of matte satin with a bateau neckline. The sleeveless bodice was embellished with beaded crystal and re-embroidered lace accented with an asymmetrical waistline. The back bodice featured a deep V-back. The A-line skirt was beaded with re-embroidered lace and crystal and extended into a chapel-length train.
For her headpiece, she chose a two-tiered veil of silk illusion with a bugle bead and crystals attached to a comb. She carried a bouquet of purple roses and ivy.
Carly Flora of Greenville was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Allyson Edmundson of Chapel Hill, Nicole Smith of Greensboro and Leanna Waters of Marietta, Ga.
Stephen Lingle was his son’s best man. Brad Smith of Winston-Salem, cousin of the bride, was the usher. Groomsmen were Scott Franquemont and Rodney Carter of Raleigh and Tyson Mahar of Greenville.
Candy Bunn of Greenville directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Stacy Campbell of Greenville. Debbie Flora of Winston-Salem distributed programs.
Donna Edmundson of Goldsboro was mistress of ceremonies.
A program of wedding music was provided by Brad Collier of Greenville, pianist and organist, and Carly Flora of Greenville, vocalist.
After a wedding trip to Atlantis, Paradise Island and the Bahamas, the couple is residing in Winterville.
The bride is a 2003 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor of science degree in hearing and speech science. She attends East Carolina University for a graduate degree in speech language pathology. She is vice president of the sign language clue and a member of Intervarsity Christian Fellowship.
The groom graduated from East Carolina University in 1999 with a bachelor of science degree in rehab studies. He is employed as a health assessment specialist at Viquest Greenville.
Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance reception was held at Greenville Convention Center. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Edmundson of Goldsboro greeted guests and said good-byes.
On July 31, Ethel Glasgow, Robin Maxwell, Pam Waters and Charlotte Wallace held a champagne brunch at Christina’s of Greenville.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner July 30 at Courtyard Tavern of Greenville.
A party was held July 17 at the Flora home in Morehead City.
On July 16, Carly Flora and Allyson Edmundson held a bachelorette party at Stoccato’s of Greenville.
Marsha Hodson, Penny Zeimer, Pat Keim and Treva Inzerillo of Goldsboro held a bridal luncheon June 19.
On June 5, Debbie Flora and Carly Flora held a housewarming shower at the home of the bride.
A luncheon was held at the home of Marsha Hodson.
