Mr. and Mrs. Ussery

Sandy Denise Holland and Adam Walter Ussery Jr. said their marriage vows Aug. 14 at 2 p.m.

Joseph Leonard officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Goldsboro Worship Center.

Bobby Glenn and Neta Kaye Holland of Pikeville are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of the late Edna Harper Mitchell and Billy Mitchell of Goldsboro, Grace Mitchell and Annette Dudley.

The groom is the son of Adam Walter Sr. and Terry Lynn Ussery of Wilson. He is the grandson of Carol Keech of Washington, Relia William of St. George, S.C., and Mark Keech of Belhaven.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white flower embroidery with seed pearls off-the-shoulder A-line gown with an open back with satin buttons down the waistline and a chapel train trimmed in embroidered flowers.

For her headpiece, she chose a princess crown with accents of diamonds. She carried stems of lilies, rosebuds and lilac, white and pink geraniums.

Jamie Hall was maid of honor. Angel Sturkey was the bridesmaid.

David Brinkley was best man. Kevin Holland was the groomsman.

Samantha Howell was flower girl. Christopher Jones was ring bearer.

Marie O’Connor directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Loray Braxton.

Special helpers were Tammy Evans, Teresa Jones, Michelle Howell and Gene Smith.

After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple is residing in Pikeville.

The bride is a 2004 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School.

The groom graduated from Wilson Tech College. He is a volunteer with East Nash Fire Department of Wilson. He is employed as a shop supervisor with Retro Lube.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Tammy Evans of Pikeville, friend of the bride, served the three-tiered wedding cake trimmed in lilac rosebuds and white doves was served. Teresa Jones of Pikeville, aunt of the bride, and Michelle Howell of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, poured punch.

On Feb. 21, the bride’s parents held an engagement party.

Loray Braxton, aunt of the bride, held a room-to-room shower March 27.
