Mr. and Mrs. Godwin

CLAYTON — Cynthia Gail Howell and Gary Glenn Godwin pledged their promises Aug. 13 at 7 p.m.

The Rev. Doug Seymour officiated at the outdoor double-ring ceremony at the Wagner House and interpreted for the couple.

Parents of the bride are Shirley Ann Howell and James F. Howell of Goldsboro.

Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Godwin of Erwin are parents of the groom.

Given in marriage by her family and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white satin A-line gown with a halter neckline with traditional beaded lace appliqués and crystals on the bodice. The chapel train was accented with a cutout lace appliquéd hem with beads and crystals.

For her headpiece, she chose a silver tiara of rhinestone and pearls with a fingertip-length veil accented with crystals and pearls. She carried a cascading bouquet of red and white roses with baby’s breath and greenery tied with red and white satin ribbons.

Valerie Howell, daughter, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Katrina Evans, sister of the bride, and Iris Childers.

Bryan Godwin and Tyler Godwin, sons, were best men. Mark Howell, son of the bride, was the groomsman.

Brenda Avent directed the wedding.

Kayla Seymour interpreted the ceremony.

A program of wedding music was provided by Pattie Godwin, vocalist.

After a wedding trip to Poconos, Pa., the couple is residing in Erwin.

The bride attended Wilson NC School for the Deaf. She is a graduate of Morganton NC School for the Deaf.

The groom attended Wilson NC School for the Deaf. He graduated from Morganton NC School for the Deaf.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Wagner House.

On July 31, Gayle Dorman and Gloria Coleman, aunts of the groom, held a brunch at the Coleman home. Mr. and Mrs. George Coleman, uncle and aunt of the groom, said good-byes.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Morning Glory Bed and Breakfast of Clayton. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
