CHARLESTON, S.C. — Jennifer Moore Jarrett and Michael Shane Hoover of Charleston were married Aug. 21 at 6 p.m.

The Rev. Joseph Cahill officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Saint Luke’s Chapel.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Willis Jarrett of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ben Johnston Thornton of Goldsboro, the late Mr. Thornton and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Neal Jarrett of Hayesville.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hugh Hoover of Cedar Grove. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hubert Hoover and Mrs. Charlie Edward Oakes of Danville, Va., and the late Mr. Oakes.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown and mantilla of Brussels lace worn by her mother.

Kathryn Cannon of Seattle, Wash., was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Caroline Vinson Carr of Raleigh, Marjorie Clark Fickling of Goldsboro, Artemis Helen Malekpour of Chapel Hill, Phelicia Cuthbertson Flanagan of Richmond, Va., Kate McNairy Pierce of Greensboro, Lee Worrell Taylor of Wilmington and Elizabeth Parker Ware of Newark, Del.

William Hugh Hoover was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Richard Willis Jarrett of Wilmington and Thomas Neal Jarrett of Kenansville, brothers of the bride, Franklin Lee Hollowell Jr. of Raleigh, Joshua Mitchell Hughes of Carrboro, Mark Robert Goldblatt and Philip Andrew Roehrs of Charleston, Joshua Chase Scott of Columbia, S.C., and Thomas Watson Parker of Cedar Grove.

Isabelle Williams Doss of Goldsboro directed the ceremony.

Helen Elizabeth Armstrong of Charlotte and Daniela Marie Marx of New Orleans, La., were readers.

Lyne Goodlett Scott of Columbia and Ann Cara Sumners of Manteo greeted guests.

Mary Kathryn Thornton and John Michael Thornton of Columbus, Ohio, cousins of the bride, were altar servers.

A program of wedding music was provided by Sally Dixon of Charleston, organist, Ben Johnston Thornton of Columbus, cousin of the bride, trumpeter.

After a wedding trip, the couple will reside in Charleston.

The bride is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of science degree and East Carolina University School of Medicine with a doctor of medicine degree. She completed residency in pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital. She is employed as a chief pediatric resident at the Medical University of South Carolina.

The groom graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of science degree and a doctor of medicine degree. He completed residency in pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital. He is completing a fellowship in neonatology at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at the South Carolina Aquarium.

On Aug. 20, the groom’s parents held an after-rehearsal dinner at Hassell Hall of Charleston.

Friends and family of the couple held a harbor cruise Aug. 20 in Charleston.
