Mitchell - Teachey
Peggy Rochelle Teachey and Phillip Alan Mitchell said their marriage vows Saturday, Aug. 7 at 3 p.m.
The Rev. James Willie Teachey, father of the bride, and the Rev. Marty L. Massey, brother-in-law of the bride, officiated at the double-ring ceremony at El-Bethel Assembly.
James Willie and Peggy JoAnn Teachey of Pikeville are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of the late Willie and Pauline Mozingo and the late S.J. and Viola Teachey of Pikeville.
The late W.A. Mitchell Jr. and Jessie C. Mitchell of Creedmoor are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of the late John Thomas and Rosie Dell Clayton and William Andrew Sr. and Lillie Mariah Mitchell of Durham.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a short sleeve V-neck white satin A-line floor-length gown with a fitted bodice and pearls, lace and sequins. It had a chapel-length train accented with pearls, lace and sequin accents to match the bodice.
For her headpiece, she chose a silver tiara of diamonds with illusion accented with scattered diamonds. She carried a cascading bouquet of white calla lilies, roses and stephanotis.
Lisa Massey of Pikeville, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Dawn Bizzell of Stem and Melva Henry and Wendy Hyde of Durham, friends of the bride, and Amy Teachey of Goldsboro, sister-in-law of the bride.
Gary Slaughter of Durham was his friend’s best man. Ushers were Alan Mitchell and Lance Mitchell of Creedmoor, sons of the groom; George Patton of Raleigh, friend of the groom; and Tim Teachey of Goldsboro, brother of the bride.
Tiffany Gillis of Stem, friend of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid. Jonathan Massey of Pikeville, nephew of the bride, was the junior usher.
Destiney Smith of Fremont, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Ben Massey of Pikeville, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.
Ashley Hyde of Durham, friend of the bride, was miniature bride. Will Massey of Pikeville, nephew of the bride, was miniature groom.
Jane Carpenter of Durham, friend of the bride’s family, directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register was Kristy Albert of Durham, friend of the bride. Nathan Bizzell of Stem, friend of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Rich Holder of Pikeville, pianist; Chris Daly of Goldsboro, organist; and the Rev. Steve Holder and Sharon Holder of Pikeville, vocalists.
After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple will reside in Pikeville.
The bride is a graduate of Wake Forest-Rolesville High School. She is employed as a legal assistant with Clayton, Myrick, McClanahan and Coulter Law Firm of Durham.
The groom graduated from South Granville High School of Creedmoor. He is employed as a staff specialist with Duke University Medical Center.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church family life center. Judy Strickland of Pikeville, friend of the bride’s family, poured punch. Faye Williams of Oxford and Jane Carpenter of Durham, friends of the bride’s family, served the wedding cake.
A rehearsal dinner was held Aug. 6 at Madison’s Steak house.
On July 31, Judy Strickland held a bridesmaids’ luncheon in El-Bethel Assembly’s family life center.
Chris Daly and Elaine Holder, friends of the bride’s family, and Terry Howell, Mendi Burnham and Lori Smith, cousins of the bride, held a miscellaneous shower July 17 in El-Bethel Assembly’s family life center.
On July 10, the couple’s church congregation held a celebration/miscellaneous shower in Lighthouse of God fellowship hall of Durham.
Co-workers of the bride held a miscellaneous shower June 26 at the home of Jerry and Deborah Clayton of Rougemont.
