DUNN — Nina Courtney Alphin and Ray Allen Butts exchanged promise June 12 at 5 p.m.

The Rev. Elvin R. Butts Jr., father of the groom, officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Long Branch Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Ernest J. and Teresa M. Alphin of Dunn are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. David C. McLamb of Benson and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse C. Alphin Sr. of Dunn.

Elvin R Jr. and Paula S. Butts of Dunn are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Paul B. Sullivan of Goldsboro, Annie H. Butts of LaGrange and the late E. Ray Butts Sr.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory satin traditional gown. The sweetheart neckline and long fitted sleeves were enhanced with Alencon lace, pearls and sequins. It had a design of beading from the neckline to the hemline. The ballgown skirt was embellished with designs of matching lace and beading that extended to the cathedral trail.

For her headpiece, she chose a matching tiara of pearls and sequins with a two-tiered finger-length veil. She carried a semi-cascade of white and ivory dendrobiums, white miniature callas, Virginia roses and stephanotis.

Nicole Ritchie, aunt of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mindy Hudson, Elizabeth Murphy, Katie Westmoreland, Amberly Winkle and Melinda Wright, friends of the bride.

Paul Butts was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Clint Alphin, brother of the bride; Graham Byrd, friend of the couple; and Thomas Pilkington, Trent Pilkington and Trevor Pilkington, cousins of the groom.

Peggy Alphin directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register were Mr. and Mrs. David Hobson and Mr. and Mrs. Monty McLamb, uncles and aunts of the bide.

Lynne Castles was interpreter.

A program of wedding music was provided by Algene Yeatman, organist and vocalist, and David Hyland and Kelly Taylor, vocalists.

After a wedding trip to Disney World, Fla., the couple is residing in Dunn.

The bride is a graduate of Campbell University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration.

The groom graduated from Midway High School. He attends Campbell University’s trust management school.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception in the church fellowship hall. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Johnson, uncle and aunt of the bride, greeted quests. Nancy Pilkington, Rosemary Barden, Annie Britt and Pam Stewart, aunts of the groom, and Betty Lee and Vicki Pike, friends of the bride, served the wedding cake and poured punch.

On May 22, Peggy Westmoreland held a bridal luncheon at Humphrey’s Grill of Dunn.

Nicole Ritchie held a honeymoon treasure hunt May 15 at Crabtree Valley Mall and the Cheesecake Factory.

On May 8, the bride’s family held a cookout at Long Branch Church fellowship hall.

The groom’s father and brother held a tool shower May 2 at their home.

On April 25, ladies of Long Branch Church held a floating bridal shower at the church.

The groom’s family held a floating bridal shower April 18 at Belfast Fire Station.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Long Branch Church fellowship hall.
