Phaedra Ruth Murphy became the bride of David Eugene Medus March 6 at 2 p.m.

Dr. Billy Seate officiated at the double-ring ceremony at St. Paul United Methodist Church.

The bride is the daughter of Robert Lee Jr. and Judith Sing Murphy of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Robert Lee Sr. and Ruth Rosser Murphy of Portsmouth, Va., and the late Alton Thomas Sr. and Vivian Beale Sing.

The groom is the son of Ronald Roy and Cora Jean Medus of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of Gary and Gloria Barber of Goldsboro and the late Delores Slifer.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an A-line satin and Venise lace gown with a wedding band neckline and a princess waist with a bow in the back and a cathedral train.

For her headpiece, she chose a backpiece of flowers and pearls with a chapel-length veil of illusion trimmed with Alencon lace and handsewn pearls. She carried a bouquet of yellow and white roses with calla lilies.

Tara Scarborough was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Holt, sister of the bride, and Jessica Wilkerson.

Paul Piper was best man. Ushers were Mike Medus and Will Medus, brothers of the groom. Groomsmen were Ryan Lewis and James Hartnett.

Kaitlynn Ripley, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Dylan Ripley, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.

Shelia Warrick directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register was Sheena Jacobs. Stephen Summerell and Damian Cromwell distributed programs.

Rich Sharpe, friend of the groom, was crucifer.

A program of wedding music was provided by Jean H. Clay, organist, and Ronald Medus, father of the groom, vocalist.

After a wedding cruise to the Bahamas, the couple is residing in Snow Hill.

The bride is a 2001 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School. She attended Wayne Community College. She is employed as an administrative assistant with Furniture Fair.

The groom graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 2000. He attended Wayne Community College. He is a freelance computer programmer. He is employed as a server with Outback Restaurant.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Justin Rossi, friend of the groom, was the master of ceremonies.

Cassandra Haynes, friend of the bride, held a bridal shower.

The groom’s parents held a barbecue rehearsal dinner at their home.
