Amy Lynette Thompson and Clifton Howard Smith exchanged promises Feb. 7 at 2 p.m.

The Rev. Dwayne Milioni officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Love Memorial Baptist Church.

Parents of the bride are Linwood Earle and Joyce Murray Thompson of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Sarah Rhyne Murray of Mount Olive, the late William B. Murray Jr., the late Milford Allen Thompson and the late Melverine Blackmon Thompson.

Parents of the groom are Randy Allen and Susan Jarrett Smith of Newton. He is the grandson of Howard Franklin Jarrett and Joyce Fulbright Jarrett of Newton, Elsie Sigmon Smith of Vale and the late Lester Junior Smith.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an A-line gown of white pearl matte satin with a bateau neckline, a V neckline in back and an asymmetrical waistline with a chapel-length train. It was adorned with beaded lace.

For her headpiece, she chose a two-tiered veil with satin cording and a comb embellished with pearls and embroidered flowers. She carried a semi-cascading bouquet of pink roses, stephanotis and assorted flowers.

Rebecka Thompson Mercer of Clayton, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Suzanne Smith Bowman of Apex, sister of the groom; Patricia Lynn Murray of Charlottesville, Va., and Meredith Lindsay Murray of Raleigh, cousins of the bride; and Fran Smith Mayfield of Fort Worth, Texas, and Ellen Whitaker Bragdon of Birmingham, Ala., friends of the bride.

Randy Allen Smith was his son’s best man. Ushers were Christian Michael Rumswinkle of Hickory and Jon Michael Carmack of Charlotte, friends of the groom, and Jeffrey Glenn Mercer of Clayton, brother-in-law of the bride. Groomsmen were Randy Curtis Smith of Newton, brother of the groom; Kenneth Brian Bowman of Apex, brother-in-law of the groom; and James Howard Mitchell of King, Gary Lester Smith Jr. of Conover and Blair Elliot Cody III of Hickory, cousins of the groom.

Rachel Caroline Edwards of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Auston Sheppard Gray of Goldsboro, cousin of the groom, was ring bearer.

Laura Smith directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register was Dana Elizabeth Horton of Fort Worth. Lauren Elizabeth Tucker of Forth Worth and Megan Renee Johnson of Newport News, Va., distributed programs.

Special helper was Nicole Wilson of Wake Forest.

A program of wedding music was provided by Sheila Dacus of Overland Park, Kan., and Angela Lowry of Salisbury, pianists; Wesley Price of Wake Forest, vocalist and guitarist; and Erica Cooper of Wake Forest, violinist.

After a wedding trip to the coast, the couple will reside in Buies Creek.

The bride is a graduate of Southern Wayne High School, Campbell University with a degree in piano pedagogy and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a master’s degree in piano performance.

The groom graduated from Fred T. Foard High School of Newton and North Carolina State University with a degree in accounting. He attends Campbell University School of Law.

On Feb. 6, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner.

Ed and Joyce Edwards held a dinner party Jan. 31 at their home.

On Jan. 24, Dan and Ninevah Murray held a dinner party at their home in Raleigh.

The Bykota class of Love Memorial Baptist Church held a bridal shower Jan. 18.

On Dec. 20, Rebecka Mercer held a bridal shower at her home in Clayton.

Ellen Bragdon held a lingerie shower Dec. 19 at the home of Suzanne Bowman of Apex.

On Dec. 5, Nicole Wilson held a co-ed shower at her home in Wake Forest.

Family friends of the groom held a kitchen shower Nov. 8 in Newton.

On Sept. 27, the groom’s parents held an engagement party at their home.
