PREP FOOTBALL: Rebels roll past Gators

CALYPSO -- Saul Mendoza accounted for 11 points, one touchdown and 145 yards rushing during North Duplin's 42-14, season-opening victory over Spring Creek at H.E. Grubbs Field on Friday evening.
Mendoza tallied an 11-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and added the subsequent PAT -- his fifth and final of the night.
Kyle Figueroa found the end zone on TD runs on eight and nine yards in the opening half. He finished with 25 yards on three totes.
Wilfredo Pauc (39 yards), Gage Outlaw (20 yards) and Kijah Blow (69 yards) delivered one touchdown apiece.
The Rebels amassed 345 yards of total offense -- all on the ground.
Spring Creeks' Javon Newsome scored from 6 yards out in the second quarter. Teammate Jordan Ammons dove over from the 1 in the fourth.
Dominique Morse paced the Gators' ground game with 83 yards on seven carries. Newsome concluded the night with 34 yards, while Ammons had 25.
The Gators had 151 yards of total offense and committed four turnovers.
North Duplin claimed its 15th consecutive regular-season win.
The Rebels travel to Pinetown Northside on Friday, while the Gators (0-1) are the guests of Lejeune.
