Wayne County Post 11 staged yet another middle-inning rally, but couldn't hang on Friday evening.

Kinston Post 43 plated five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and pulled off a 10-7 victory in Area I East Division play. The two rivals completed their game suspended by rain Thursday.

The loss snapped Wayne County's 12-game win streak.

Tied at 5-all through five innings, Post 11 appeared to take control in the sixth.

Will Uzzell connected on a lead-off single and was eventually gunned down at third base. Case Kermode walked and advanced to second on Christian Yarbrough's groundout to short.

Kermode scored when Post 43's defense booted an infield ground ball by Tyler Daniels. Daniels raced home on Jack Casbarro's lone hit -- an RBI triple to right field.

Kinston answered.

Dalton Lane reached on a one-out single, while Christian Jones drew a walk. Garrett Tyndall knocked in both runners with a two-RBI double that knotted the contest at 7-all.

A couple of uncharacteristic infield errors, aided by an intentional walk and single, helped Kinston seize a 10-7 advantage.

Wayne County didn't respond.

Spring Creek product Casey Whitfield shut the door on Post 11 with a 1-2-3 inning in the seventh. He induced a lazy fly ball to left field and a pair of infield groundouts to give Post 43 a split in the two-game series.

Yarbrough emerged as Wayne County's top offensive performer with two hits and three RBI. Kermode and Landon Ginn each supplied a hit for Wayne County, which fell to 14-2 overall and 4-1 in Area I East matters this season.

Luke Frederick started on the bump and tossed two innings. Carson Smitherman threw two-plus innings of scoreless relief. University of Mount Olive commit Kolby Harris endured his second defeat of the season.

"A tough one," WC head coach Adam Pate said. "We'll get back at it tomorrow."

Post 11 plays host to Ahoskie Post 102 for a doubleheader today at Wayne Academy. First pitch is 3 p.m.
