Junior guard Myesha Best exploded for a game-high 30 points on Friday, including eight three-pointers, but it wasn't enough to motivate Eastern Wayne past ECC 3A leader South Central.
Nyesha Best also provided a solid floor game for the Lady Dubs, finishing with eight points, four rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists. Channing Williams factored prominently as well, tallying seven points and four boards.
Ziomara Williams added four points and 13 rebounds for EW, which fell to 13-5 overall this season and 5-3 in league play.
"Proud of the girls, just came up short," said Eastern Wayne head coach Michael Gurganus. "But if we play like we did tonight, we'll be okay. I expect nothing less from here on out."
Eastern Wayne next takes the floor on Jan. 30 versus neighboring rival Charles B. Aycock.
