After suffering their lone defeat of the season earlier in the week, the Goldsboro Cougars returned to form on Friday with a workmanlike victory over East Central 2A foe Spring Creek.
Keyshorn Smith scored 18 points to lead GHS, who moved to 12-1 overall this season and 3-1 in league play. Jarrod Scott added 15 points, while Isaiah Wilder and Tyzhaun Claude finished with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Spring Creek (5-8, 1-3 East Central 2A) was paced by Cameron Jones, who scored 13 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Jamerion Dawson finished with 15 points and eight boards, while Landon Smothers tallied 13 points, dished out six assists and snared four rebounds.
Goldsboro next faces Southern Vance on Monday as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Classic at Farmville Central High School. Spring Creek will return to action at home next Thursday versus league powerhouse Clinton.
