WILSON -- Greenfield School won a tense, double-overtime matchup versus Wayne Country Day School, 5-3, on Friday.

Ben Cohen paced the Charger effort with a pair of goals, and was complemented in the scorebook by Nehemiya Shaw. Cohen also filed an assist, as did Luis Lopez and Caleb Brewer.

"It was a tough game," WCDS coach Steve Ellis said, "We gave them four sloppy goals and ended up splitting the conference title."

Tennis

Goldsboro 8,

Wallace-Rose Hill 1

Hayley Jones and Anna Prezbindowski each registered singles wins on Thursday, propelling Goldsboro past Wallace-Rose Hill in an East Central 2-A league matchup.  

The duo also won its doubles match by an 8-2 margin.

Goldsboro is now 8-2 overall and 6-1 in matters of league significance.

Southern Wayne 0

C.B. Aycock celebrated Senior Night on Thursday with a sweep of ECC and county rival Southern Wayne.

Meredith Jones, Grayson Lane, Lexi Reeves, Hannah Tyndall, Michaela Boyd and Grace Mooring all posted wins in singles play.

Doubles victories were authored by Reeves-Karlyn Ray, Abbie Shackelford-Sophia Gumbish and Eliana Corrado-Laney Reeves.
